It is on right now. Last week they ran the show again at about midnight. May do that again. DVR it.

Insightful.

On the Hill sack that was nearly a safety. It was not a bad call. It was bad execution. Koroma did not block anyone, but went 10 yards down field looking for someone to block like maybe he thought it was a running play. Lasike also went downfield blocking. Very poor protection. Those two should have stayed back. Stuff happens with an amped up true freshman center.

On the PoVey pass break-up where he and Daniel nearly collided, and the 2nd receiver was uncovered running deep -

It was Daniel that chose to break off his guy and risk going for a pick. PoVey covered his own guy and got the breakup.

Before we bag on Rob, the Texas QB was locked on to PoVey's guy, not coke for a long throw, and Texas had not been turning him loose to go long. But if he had re-cocked, and town long, Rob Daniel would be the guy burned for the TD.

On the sure sack Fua, missed, it was technique. He should know that a QB will almost never step up in the pocket when you come untouched, but will instead try to reverse roll out of the situation, so you target the tackling attempt to the outside to compensate.

Twice they highlighted the closing speed of Leavitt.

They complimented the patience of Hill stating they would much rather suffer sacks than 3 picks from forcing throws.

But, he needs to get better at throwing it away. 65% completion with 1 sack beats 72% with 6 sacks.

Dave McCann also said that Leslie told Hill he was the one who held on the long TD run that got called back.

Taking 6 sacks is most likely better than throwing 3 INTs, but it's a fine line between being patient and being hesitant.

Going back to 1994:

BYU's record when giving up 6+ sacks: 5-10 (.333)

BYU's record when throwing 3 INTs: 8-19 (.296)

So there's really not much difference.

Well, the real point they were making about the interceptions vs sacks is they wanted Hill throwing the ball away instead of taking the sack but Nixon pointed out that from a defensive standpoint, he would rather see a sack than an interception putting the defense in a bad position.

The initial main point about patience was that last year Hill would have taken off running long before allowing the receivers to get open. The the next point was a sack is better than forcing a throw that should not be made, then the final point was if he learns to throw it away, then the sacks can be avoided. Experience and weaker defenses fix this.

They did not say do, but the reference to 3 picks may be tied to his 3 picks VA Houston last year in an otherwise huge day for Hill.
