The goals for BYU are:



1. To win the National Championship

2. To go to a NY6 bowl game

3. To achieve the highest ranking possible

4. To win as many games as possible

5. To be bowl eligible and play the best bowl team possible

6. To be better than Utah



If you want to see these goals accomplished here is your rooting guide:



A. Cheer for BYU. Duh.



BYU over Houston



B. Cheer for the team playing Utah. If we need help from Utah in any way then it is not worth having.



Violation of Team Rules over Utah



C. Cheer for BYU’s opponents. This helps SOS.



Boise St. over UConn (A higher ranked BSU when we play them, the better)

UNLV over Northern Illinois

Virginia over Louisville

Nevada over Arizona

MTSU over Western Kentucky

USU over Wake Forest

UCF over Missouri

Texas over UCLA





D. Cheer for teams playing teams ranked ahead of BYU. If both teams are ranked cheer for the team with more probable losses in their future (Of course rules A-C trump rule D).

E. Cheer for our Opponents’ opponents unless they are playing our opponents. This helps our SOS in virtually every SOS calculation. The more connected a team is to our opponents the more you should cheer for them (unless it violates rules A-D). Air Force is the most connected team to our opponents as they play 4 games against them (Boise St., Nevada, UNLV, Utah St.). The number by the team indicates how connected they are. If the numbers are equal take the team who has lost or will most likely lose to our opponents.

I don't see how "violation of team rules" can beat utah... it's not like they have many of those... And beside's they're playing what looks to be a beatable Michoacán next week; the level of violation which would require a suspension would have to be north of anything that doesn’t require a no bail arrest situation. And even then, it'll be the court system keeping them out of the game, not the coach.

UVA, UCF, ECU, Connecticut all hanging tough right now. Uconn win both helps/hurts BYU, but I think BSU's final record is going to be OK, and Uconn could certainly use the win.

Looked like in the Boise UConn game Boise had a pick six for a TD and a fumble recovery run back for a TD otherwise that one would have been a lot closer. Bummer for Texas I was pulling for them.

So where will we be ranked tomorrow?

Says #23. Sounds about right.

Would've been awesome if Texas had held on, oh well. UVA beating a ranking Louisville is huge for us though. Two top ten teams losing is pretty awesome too. Let's hope this continues to be a year of football carnage!
