Strong to Weak to root out Horn Hubris?

As what he has claimed all summer and in the last few weeks?????



Although he has said repeatedly, in the context of having watched last years game and feeling "ANGRY" and that "he didn't need to say anything to his team about BYU (words to that effect)-- maybe he needed to say more???????............like the following motivational gems at post game and this morning at big12 presser........

Sounds like the dude is afraid of boosters and didn't mind throwing his boys under the bus.

He gets some benefit of the doubt purging the corruption and attitudes out of his program, but that won't last very long if "he keeps letting his players EMBARRASS themselves.

And methods like this?

I think one of the big things with Strong is accountability. He wants them to own up to their performance. I have no problem with a coach telling his players they didn't perform. Publicly, in front of press gets a little dicey, though, but my guess is Strong is basically sending a message to the players that he isn't going to shield them unless they show up and play.



Secondly, my guess is Strong has some players that are doubting him or aren't fully bought into his style. These players haven't broken rules, but they aren't convinced. He has to establish that his way is the right way and to do that Strong is probably okay with letting them fall on their face and is happy to point out that they fell on their face. Strong telling the press, "No, it's my fault they weren't prepared," just reinforces to the doubters and doesn't put responsibility of performance on the players.



The fact none of the players tore down the stats actually tells Strong a lot about his players. I like the tactic.

I agree with Gunk. I don't mind what Strong is doing. Being the new head coach at one of the biggest programs in the country puts a lot of pressure on you to make things happen, and with so much history behind Texas football, he's really going to have to lay things on thick to change the atmosphere and create the type of program that he knows will get the job done.

I'm not sure what this says about his players. Maybe they thought they wanted the reminder up on the lockers to keep them motivated throughout the week. Maybe his psychology was off? Either way, it worked in our favor.
