The Oline is better, but there were some series there where they got pushed around quite a bit. I think the offense would have benefited early on from some shorter routes. Seemed the pass pays often took too long to develop and against a better d-line our OL wasn't able to hold the pocket like they did against UConn. I don't think this was so much the OL's fault - Texas has some beasts up front -but the wrong plays being called.

As the announcers pointed out regarding the TEXAS OC, many times, you have to take shots downfield, or the opposing defense can easily shut down the short stuff - like BYU shut down Texas and Texas could not shut down BYU.
it is called stretching the field.
And, as the announcers said it's good to get some quick throws in during the beginning so your QB is confident and establish you're capable of passing. I am fine occasionally stretching the field. But if you're trying to do it every pass play it's predictable. Not only that, but if long stretched out plays is what you predominantly do the defense knows they have more time to put pressure on the ball. Hill has to wait 3 - 4 seconds for the play develop; so, throw another guy in the box and pressure the pocket because you know you have the time. If all you have is 2 seconds to try and pressure the QB before he throws it you aren't going to load the box.
The main thing is to keep defenses guessing what you're going to do. Always stretching the field has the same effect as always keeping it short.
