They hired Nevada's defensive coordinator. Which is kind of like hiring the Easter Bunny... :skeptic:

Nevada HAD a defensive coordinator? Who would have thought that? .... I think the guy missed the BSU game...maybe he was out interviewing for the job?

Maybe they secretly hired him before the season at Nevada even began, and then nobody noticed that he was gone??

They are doing all of college football a favor by removing him from a position he clearly is not qualified for.

If we could keep the staff intact for one more year while we coach up the 2009-2010 class that would be outstanding. By next year, I'm sure someone's going to bolt, either that or retire. So we're probably going to have to make a some hires soon. But there's a lot to be said about keeping some consistency in the staff, especially while bringing up a very talented but young group of players.

what's missing from this report was how much Hill wanted the job.



I know he was recently promoted to D-coordinator, but how ambitious is this guy? How long do we get him? Was this something he interviewed for? Where else is he looking?

Funny you should ask. Jay Drew (in his SLTrib blog) talks to Hill about it. Part of Hill's response:



“I do have an interest in becoming a head coach. I definitely have an interest,” he said. “But it has to be the right place. For me, my interest is more in the FBS instead of the FCS. And Portland State is the FCS, so that wasn’t quite where I wanted to go.”

Hill is proud of what he has accomplished at BYU, and believes he is building a strong resume that will continue to attract interest.

Getting a head coaching job, “is an interest of mine, but right now, I am more concerned about winning our next game, keeping our guys focused, and putting them in a position where they can be successful, and hope they can go out and do their part,” he said.
