Will BYU Cover The Spread Vs UCONN

Road game, season opener, or not -



CBS showed UCONN at +16.5 VS BYU in Connecticut.



Simple Question - Will BYU cover that spread?

We're lucky to score 17 points in opening games. Vegas probably assumes we'll shut them out...

that's a ton of points for a home game, let alone a season opening road game where we've struggled to score points.

I went back and enabled revoting, which means it would be naughty to change your vote after kick-off. I voted no for now due to uncertainty about any additional suspensions and because we already know 2 starters are suspended and one high potential receiver is injured. Several defensive starters had limited reps. BYU will win. Jet lag, humidity, lack of preparation for contact, injuries, suspensions, limited reps for key players, special teams mistakes, keep this from being a blowout.

No. Im not even that Blue goggled. Again, i wonder if the lack of BYU betters skews the betting world odds. Should be BYU +6. BUt thanks, odds makers! :-( we do much better as an underdog.

well our average prediction has us winning by 12. So a majority will undoubtedly vote "no" on this.

BYU on the road scoring points = bad. BYU in the first game of the season on the road = bad. We'll win this game, but it's not going to be pretty.

Agreed. I want a fantastic offense (a la Brian Kelly's Oregon O) to show up, and I feel like we're on our way there, but not yet. But yeah, I think the score will be something like (BYU) 24-17, which is too close for comfort. I'm spending my week kind of dreaming though....what if our O just clicks and puts up 35+ ? What if Bronco's D just shuts them down to the tune of <10 points? AWESOME... And, I hope that with different personnel for week 2 (JSwagg and Devon back), Anae nails UT-Austin with some schemes not to be seen this Fri.



I don't think we will cover the spread. It will be close. But man, here's hopin.

That's a huge spread. I'm not sure I'd take BYU 16.5+ at home. Also, this line hasn't moved since it was set months ago, which means either limited action, or equal action based on the line.

No idea....none whatsoever. We're not even sure who our starting QB is if rumors about the NCAA issue are true.

I guarantee we beat the spread. If we don't, free year long memberships to CougarCorner for everyone!

I'd prefer a win by 6 than a win by 16. I want Texas to over look us. I know we've been circled on their calendar, but I still want them to be overconfident. A close win also causes us to be a lot more introspective and self-critical about what to do to improve. BYU has a history of getting cocky with a bit of success and then going down in flames. I want a win that gives us confidence with enough fear to buckle down for a tough UT game.

Offense is always slower to get rolling, so I said no.

I said yes. I have A LOT of doubts, but I have this weird feeling that we are going to show up and click. Can't wait!

We all want this, but the odds are against it. Had I been to some practices to watch Leslie, Blackmon, Dye and all the new guys play I might have a different opinion. Did we pick up top talent in the receiving corps? I sure hope so, but we won't see 2 of them in week 1 regardless.

Rumors of 5 suspended players plus Kurtz injury notwithstanding, I changed my vote to yes. I have been suckered in by the hype on this offense, crappy scrimmage notwithstanding.

I voted no, the only way BYU wins by 16+ is if we score 17 and we shut them out. Bronco's BYU offenses simply have done nothing substantial in opening road games. In 06, John Beck and the boys averaged over 35 pts per game and only scored like 13 in the opener at AZ.

With Taysom? I think so.



Without Taysom (JSwagg, and the rest). I really doubt it.
