Shamefully, I must admit that I haven't been to a BYU hoops game since graduating in 1996. That's far far too long, but with the schooling and family priorities, it didn't work out. But now I'm beginning repentance of that and I'm taking the family to the game. perhaps I'll pull a Hawkwing and bring a point and shoot camera and take some photos...

Because I'm not good at catching jokes I'll answer this question as if it isn't one, knowing that the joke, may well be on me. I've seen Hawkwing refer to cameras as "point and shoot" cameras and I understandx that to be a non SLR camera, so no fance interchangable lenses or other camera equipment. That is all.



PS This will be my Boys first NCAA hoops game. They're getting a backboard and hoop for Christmas. let's hope it takes.

Is it possible that we are the only team in the country that cannot recruit big guys who can dunk? That kind of soft bball by Miles costs us at least 6 points/game.

BYU wins it 72-67. Game was not as close as it sounds. FSU got a lot of points near the end with sloppy play by BYU. It should have been a 12 point win but FSU whittled it down to a 5 point game.

I just got Wrubell on ksl.com...not the most fun listening vs. watching but Wrubell and crew do a good job of letting the audience know what is going on.

And thank goodness. It's going to make all the difference in my prediction this week.

If our top players would have played offense worth a darn in the first half/at all (Jackson), we would have won by 30. Luckily, Jimmer got his shot back in the second half.

my thoughts on the game:



the churros were big but at $4.00 a pop were a bit overpriced. the hotdogs were 4.50 and somewhat a better deal.



Jackson Emery is verry fun to watch in person. for some reason JT was the only one without his name on his jersey.



My boys had a great time and the Gym was only about 40 percent full.

JT had no name because he switched back to #45 this game (he has been #24 the rest of this year). I guess he must have superstition about the numbers he's been shooting and the numbers he's wearing.

OK I need to actually pay more attention. I hadn't noticed in any of the earlier games the switch. I thought the 45 looked natural tonight.



oh and also... Davies has that solid Big Man look about him. He'll be fun to watch.



Oh and that block on Miles was pretty pathetic on his part.



Hartsock also looked impressive.

BYU won mostly because of the whopping 21 turnovers they forced Fresno State to commit



Haws actually played the most minutes for BYU in this game, with 36 (and scored 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including 3-of-5 from deep). Emery only played 15 minutes in this one (but only had 2 fouls). Of course, Jackson shot 1-of-8 (0-of-5 from 3 point range). Davies played 6 minutes and Abouo played just 3.



Hartsock was a beast as a starter, grabbing 11 rebounds and scoring 9 points on 4-of-5 shooting. But he and Davies combined to go just 2-of-7 from the charity stripe.



Fredette led BYU in shots, threes, and free throws taken and made, in points, in assists, and in turnovers (an extremely uncharacteristic 7!).



Miles played 28 minutes but scores 0 points on 0-for-2 shooting.

This week's prediction game featured the 3 highest scores yet: declocoug with 60 points, hawkwing with 61, and ghansen with an amazing 64! His final score guess was 74-67, with the actual result 72-67! The highest possible score is 81 points.
