UConn was already going to be a tough game since BYU can't ever seem to score in the opening game.

So 1 week into fall camp we're already missing 2 top receivers and our best running back. I like some things I'm hearing from camp, but it's all for nothing if our season's hopes end in 2.5 weeks.

Still 2 weeks of camp left. There are bound to be more injuries and wth, might as well have some more suspensions too. Maybe Leslie drinks some coffee and gets caught. This is crazy.

Seriously, other than some potential special teams mistakes, BYU will be fine in the opener because UCONN will be down a few players and has no more depth than BYU has.

I am not predicting a blowout, but I am predicting a BYU win unless our special teams units fumble the game away. I do expect to see too many penalties as well and for the team to be under prepared and jet-lagged.

Our back-up running backs have a fair amount of experience. They will be OK. Our wide receivers do lack experience, but we have depth.

Suspensions will likely hurt us at RB and CB. I do not think UCONN has the talent and experience to exploit our 2nd string CBs. Texas will. I hope everyone is eligible for that game.

I heard that M Yeck broke his toe. B Kaufusi and M Pikula have yet to practice due to tight hamstring and academics. I'm hoping Stout can stay healthy. I wonder how many starters will miss the first game. It seems that our depth is getting deeper. It's a good thing we got all of those transfers this year.

Stout is also nicked up. Stout, Kaufusi, and Pikula will all likely play.

I don't think the sky is falling, but yes, some trending concerns.

Of course, KVN was held out much of camp in previous two years.

The bad news is the depth is already being tapped into. The good news, is most will be back by Texas.

To mizzou's doom and gloom, do all these starters being out for UCONN compound Bronco's propensity for slow starts enough to make a game that shouldn't be a concern, a legit concern?

All concerns, yes. The issue I have is either this years team is legit or it is not. If we are a legitimate team we overcome the issues to beat a bad team, we are not playing a top notch program.

UConn has issues too:

1) New coach and new system

2) QB issues, potential new starter

3) They were horrid in 2013, winning 3 games but losing to the likes of Towson, USF etc. They have there own issues, ie growing pains

4) Offense will be rough, a lot of questions marks......BYU should be able to continually stop them

5) Defense should be good and the new coach knows defense, but again new system vs an experienced QB

Bottom line: BYU has no business losing this game. If they control the line (offense and defense) they win. I think we can do it and will.

My bigger concern is key guys (suspended) missing key reps prior to the UT game. This is a game that should have been a prep game for UT.

There are also long-standing rumors that JJ will be suspended for a game.

Well I will say that even w/o Kurtz and Blackmon we can't be worse off than we were last year since the only legit target was Hoffman. Run the ball down their throats should be the motto. If we can't do that against UConn then we'll know a lot about the team this season.

I heard that Langli tweaked his knee today. He is suppose to have a MRI just to check it out.
