Blackmon out for UCONN?

Just saw two feeds on Ashanti (Devon) Blackmon's twitter:



At 7pm ET today (Aug 11)

"Rules are rules.. Abide by them or suffer the consequences.... Looking forward to the Texas game."



Then 15 minutes later:

"I'm feeling so good right now.. like at peace for some reason..."



Then Jamaal's mom tweeted back to him

"@AsantiBlackmon that's a good feeling !!!"



Either he's bummed that his buddy JSwag is gonna miss UCONN, or, more likely, he's gonna miss it. He's taking it with the right attitude, though. Glad jamaal's mom is so supportive of these two! She was definitely worth recruiting!!

Lloyd also asserts that it's best to announce any such suspensions now and get it over with.



I disagree. I think it's the player's news to publish or not as he sees fit. Strategically, I see no reason to give an opponent additional information on player personnel. While I want to know as a fan, I don't need to know; any strategic advantage we can get, within the rules, is alright by me.



Now, having said that, as a fan I sure do wish that they'd put up video from the spring games and fall scrimmages!

I like this idea--on the face of it, trusting Bronco is doing what's best for the kids and the university. Plus, I love it when the media complain. PK was whining about it on radio this aftn. For whatever reason they hate it. One would think that they like headliners, but whatever.

I wonder if given all the privacy considerations and HC Office, if this has come out as a new procedure. Very interesting that Blackmon extolled The virtue of being able to come clean himself.

It's no more about earrings than Jordan Johnson "doesn't know" why he's being punished.

After letting a white QB flaunt a bad haircut in 2012, I can't imagine them suspending an African American receiver for wearing earrings without first issuing a warning.

I'm just wondering why all the penalties amassed from when the last season ended, to when it now begins again, has to be leveled at the players all in the first game. Can't there be some other punishment or so many can be suspended for one game and some for another. Does it really HAVE to be the first game? While I'd rather have them all back for Texas and have no one suspended then, still this thought that ALL off-season consequences happen in one game doesn't make sense to me.



I personally don't believe that Blackmon wasn't suspended for earrings. Funny that he tweeted that, but I think that says something of his style or sense of humor than anything.



Is it too much to ask these days for football to be only about football? Rhetorical, but nonetheless it expresses my sentiments lately.

Monte said he had a good private twitter conversation with Blackmon and that it is not due to earrings but more so to an overall attitude not conforming to the team/school rules and not taking warnings and opportunities to correct issues seriously. He explained as if you imagine the whole team lined up with their uniforms on perfectly standing in a perfect line and then Blackmon's on the end standing a few steps out of line and with his uniform a little out of place. He made it sound like Blackmon had come around to it.



He said it definitely wasn't due to earrings.

That's why I personally forgo the ear lobe earring and instead opt for the navel ring and toe rings. More discreet. ;)

I'm glad that bronco is remaining vigilant about these things and not allowing BYU to turn into a Crowton-like entitled and dishonorable program.

I was thinking the exact same thing. A touch of mercy with the justice. He said his whole family is coming and will be the only chance to see him play. The punishment could be too much if he missed THAT particular came. So don't be surprised to see Johnson sitting out the second game against Texas.

Since we have situational justice/mercy can we get that one game suspension applied to Virginia instead? Come on, I mean home game is worth a lot isnt it?
