EM_PumaLast day of the "off-season" for BYU football and none too soon for me.
What I can't tell is if I'm getting where I'm weary from all the off-season issues because:
1. I'm getting older (I'm leaning toward this possibility because I actually had to calculate whether I was 56 or 57, but that's the way it is when you are in your 50's--it doesn't matter) and I've been through enough electronic media hyped buildups to a new season that I know the truth is usually somewhat less.
2. There is so much more off-season talk than there was a decade ago that it's so daily in your face that it's almost impossible to not be weary at this point.
3. It's the disturbing situation of not being in a P 5 conference while I see the inferior Pukes there. Maybe it's sockgate or a combination of all of it.
It's one of those or something else, but I wish they'd come up with a sport I enjoyed and was on TV from March Madness until now because I find it difficult to have joined in the few threads of football we've had the last months because until they start playing, it's all speculation and I'm tired of believing we're better than we are. And all this talk of sockgate and conference affiliation that we have no control over is wearing.
