The Bibs

A Deseret News article today ranked the Top 10 games played in our home stadium and showed video clips. They also showed 2 honorable mention games.



One such clip showed the very first game played in the Bibs. Chris Hale caught the TD bomb vs Washington for his first catch ever. Much to my shock, in the Bib shots in the video clip, the Bibs on the dark blue jerseys looked white. I had recalled a Cougar Tail colored Bib on a dark blue jersey.



The white Bibs are ugly. Butt ugly. I am surprised the players did not revolt like they did over the no name jerseys a year ago.



Does anyone else remember Cougar Tail Tan Bibs?



Those white ones have me considering a name change.

the only bibs I remember where white, thus the reason they are renowned as the biggest uniform mistake of all cougar time......if not college football time.

And subsequently banned by the NCAA because the teams BYU played complained that they confused the QB's. Especially when BYU was in dark blue but when they faced the QB their jersey looked white making the QB hesitate before throwing. Actually a pretty ingenious idea. Butt ugly but clever ;) . I wonder if Nike thought of that when they designed them or if it was unintended.

I tried to find a tan bib photo online and could not find one. Maybe what I saw way back when was a mock-up of a uniform that was never actually made or worn. The white ones are really ugly.

For what it is worth, I do not recall seeing the tan ones, and I remember having my school loyalty tested when they released the stupid white bibs, where I thought - THOSE ARE UGLY! HOW CAN I BE A FAN OF THAT!?!

Once rid of the white bib, that uni suddenly became great looking. Dark, lustrous blue top and bottom with burnished gold (tan) stripes, and matching helmet. I still remember Doman and Staley in those home uniforms in 2001.

Yeah, the bibs were always white, never tan. I didn't like the color scheme even without the bibs, and the block Y wasn't great, either. Call me a traditionalist, but I like simply white and blue (royal is preferred) and the oval Y.
