IF we beat Oregon State

Gut reaction, yes, of course. They're the 16th ranked. Shoot, Utah was about the same place when we beat them, and THEY didn't even drop out. I don't have stats to back this up, but it seems like the voters aren't as willing to move ranked teams down too much after bowl losses. I think that even though Oregon State would have lost to one of those "weak" schools, they still lost to the #14 ranked team, and they're still one of the Cartel teams. Considering how many losses could happen behind them, it's entirely possible they'd stay in the top 20. Safe to say that if the tables are turned, BYU wouldn't though.

I think they do, and I think we just might sneak into the top 10. It is a definite IF, though. The Beavers have a solid team this year with good athletes, it should be a really fun game to watch.

Last year after losing to Utah and then to Arizona we stayed in the Top 25. So I would assume that whoever loses the Vegas Bowl this year will stay ranked.



Hopefully Utah wins their bowl so that they don't drop out of the Top 25 so when we beat OSU we will have 2 team ranked at the end of the year in the Top 25. I don't think there is much hope for Oklahoma to become ranked even if they win by 100.

Last year, we had 3 losses. Right now, OSU has 4. A 5th puts them out of the Top 25, unless many other teams ranked in the 17-25 range also lose. Pretty rare for a 5 loss team to remain ranked. I think they drop out if they lose. They are the highest ranked 4 loss team nationally.

I'm sort of curious... how are they ranked as high as they are with four losses? I'm sure they are a good team, but it just seems sort of odd to me. I could see a "traditional" powerhouse ranked that high (unfairly), but Oregon State? Seems odd.

You are seriously underestimating the bias of these polls. If Oregon State can finish ranked with five losses, you can bet that OU would.

Don't forget if USC wins I'm sure the voters will find a way to take them from the unranked to somewhere in the top 10. :roll:

Unless we win by 20+ which I have a hard time seeing, I think they would stay in the top 25 perhaps even top 20 still.

If those 19 games shake out the way we want them too, then it is very likely that Utah, Oklahoma, and Oregon St. will all finish ranked. BYU has never defeated 3 teams that have finished ranked in a major poll in the same season.
