Scouting/watching for good players

I got to ref the 7 on 7 camp at the U last Saturday. One of the players on my field for 3 of the games was the tight end/line backer for Payson. About 6'4. 240, well built with muscles. Good athlete. Caught the ball well. Moved well. Had attitude. I asked who was interested in him and he named about 5 schools. Said BYU had looked at him a bit but not much. Wow, if they haven't offered kids who are this good, I am excited to see who they do bring in. If they play better than this kid, we are getting some of the top players (as my last post intimated in Nick Kurtz. That guy can catch!)



I saw a couple of other players that I thot deserved a look. I sent some info to Martzen.

Question for everyone. Have you ever referred a player to the Y's coaches? Did anything happen from it? I know CraigO did so and BYU should have chased the kid. What about the rest of you?

I never have.

The question was not directed at me, but I have referred a bball player (still in HS) to BYU's coaches and they did respond.

I have referred a BBall player but never got the coaches to call me or the kid back. Not sure if it was just bad timing or what. Was going to push the issue a bit more, but then the kid hurt his knee playing pickup ball.

I did one last month for the women's Bball team. Will wait to see if they respond. Sent a link to a game tape.
