UCLA Home and Home

Just announced, a home and home agreement with UCLA. 2015 in LA, 2016 in Provo. This is interesting, because we now have 7 away games in 2015 and 5 home games. I wonder what Holmoe will do to even that out. Maybe re-arrange the So-Miss game?

Sweet! Another ROAD game to start a "series" with a P5 team.



I'm pretty excited about next September. @ Michigan @ Nebraska vs Boise St @ UCLA!

These are good games. Its nice to start to see some 2016 home games emerge. I don't see them all as wins but I don't chalk them all up as losses either. Give our guys a chance on the field. :) If you want to be like the P5 you have to be willing to play the P5 several games per season.

But these aren't tough games to get. Anyone can get a 1-and-done with Nebraska for a September game in Lincoln. Anyone can get a 1-and-done with Michigan for a game in September in Ann Arbor.

110% agree, BUT even the P5 teams don't play all P5 opponents on the road (re: 2015).

Ok, I get that. But if you look at the future schedules instead of just 2015, there are 12 home games scheduled with P5 teams and 17 road games with 2 neutral site games. The challenge is 11 of the 12 home games come in 2016 or later with most coming around 2020+. Nature of the beast with schedules when many schools are booked that far out.

If UCLA is in the mix for the College Football Playoff in the near future, strength of schedule will not be a knock on their resumè. The Bruins have an impressive non-conference slate for the next half decade that includes Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma and now BYU

With the return trip coming in 2016 I feel like we might actually see UCLA come to Provo.(that and Ucla has come before)



Now with the other B5 schools return games coming 2018-2022 etc, ya those games aren;t gonna happen. The big5 conferences could form their own league by 2019(or sooner). Anything on the schedule over 5 years out at home is pointless news to me.

H-H with UCLA is totally good news. Complaints. Really. UCLA has been honorable in the past. They will honor the return trip.



Now, the Nebraska and Michigan deals - those were short-sighted. Bad business.



The UCLA deal is the deal you want with any P5. H-H. Back-to-Back years.

BYU is going to have one monster schedule in September 2015. In addition to the road games at Nebraska and Michigan, as well as a home date against Boise State, the Cougars are also adding a road game at UCLA to the mix.

Not much to complain about here. home and home. Team with a lot of tradition. Game to be played in an area BYU should be recruiting.



Just win baby!!! It's one heckova schedule. We'll certainly find out a lot about BYU football in 2015 right off the bat. Might be good for the team if they go into the season prepared for a frontloaded schedule and ready to roll right off the bat instead of trying to prepare based on the first couple of cupcakes.

No complaints about H-H and the opponent. Just wish we weren't so heavy on the road early on next year.

And if we had won even 1 of those P5 Games outside of Provo that we went 0-5 against that would have been fun too, and fans would still be whining about the other 4 getting away from us. We have scheduled another year of debate about which coach is incompetent and which player to scapegoat in 2015.



Don't worry about me. I Will Enjoy Watching Both Of Those Games Regardless Of Outcome.

Agreed. That schedule, like last year, will only provide more incrimination that BYU "doesn't belong." BSU and Houston and Hawaii gained BCS notoriety by winning with weak schedules and then pulling off a few key victories (particularly BSU).

Many a cougar fans will cry a river with that schedule. I think it is a bad idea already. That schedule will be tougher than last years. Have one or two tough games and bag the rest.

If we want to go P5, we need to play a P5 schedule. If we go with a tough schedule like we are doing, we need to be bowl eligible. Granted, there will be another change to 2015 but we should win UNLV, SJSU, SM, UConn. Great chance to win FSU, ECU, USU.



Granted, we are playing the best of the P5 teams at the top. The rest are not P5.
