New Conference Idea

How about this idea: Form a G5 conference. Each year the following conferences would pick their best teams to place in the G5 for games that year. Here is the teams slots:



AAC 2 teams

MWC 2 teams

BYU

Conf USA 1 team

MAC 1 teams

Sun Belt 1



Then the 5 commissioners would choose one more team to make 9. That would give an 8 team schedule. They should have a pretty good SOS and the winner would get the access bowl slot.



A question is what would ESPN pay for that contract and would it hurt the current contracts.

So taking last year (ignoring Louisville and Rutgers who are leaving) you would have



UCF

Houston

East Carolina

Bowling Green

USU

BSU

BYU

Louisiana-Laf

With the wildcard of FSU



If the Sun Belt was excluded, you could add Cincinnati, I used the Sagarin ratings to pick the teams. Note that Northern Illinois barely did not make it. Bowling Green edged them out.
