If Taysom Hill...

would have declared for this year's draft (was eligible), among the QB's in this draft, where would he rank?

Higher than he probably deserves. His speed and strength and arm strength would at least get him drafted in final rounds.

But of he stays healthy this year, he likely gets at least some Heisman buzz and would rise to a third rounder or higher.

The better question is, if he has a really good year--which based on the surrounding talent and schedule, Easily should have a really good year and could have a great year--



Does Taysom stay for his Sr year? Or if he tests out, how high would he need to go in order to jump?

Probably not very high, but IMO he would have been drafted. Someone would take a chance on his athletic ability alone.

Agreed. And If Walsh could run at least as good as grandpa, he'd have been drafted



Completely off topic, but I was about 3 rows up at the Fresno State game in LES where Walsh started the game injured and Tom Young threew two touchdowns to the bulldogs. I watched Walsh doing agility drills in front of the coaches on the sidelines to prove that his kneww as healthy enough to go in the game. I remember leaving that game thinking that even though we lost, that was the best performance by a QB I had ever seen live, and I doubted that I'd ever see better. He was brilliant

If Taysom has a monster year - which he could likely have, and by monster, I mean 4000+ yards passing and 1000+ yards rushing. And if he shows well against the big teams on the schedule (Texas, UCF, Boise, etc) he'll be talked about as a possible 1st round pick next year.



His size and speed and that kind of production will get him all kinds of hype. If he goes for 4000 and 1000 he'll be a Heisman finalist as well. And if BYU is 11-1 or 12-0 he's gone.

I am torn on this one I really want to see him do good but the selfish part of me wants him to do just well enough that it is a successful season but not so good that he splits early.

Agreed. Kind of like Jimmer. He probed the NBA draft following his JR year. He got some feedback of where he would be drafted and I think he would have gone had he been a 1st round pick. He wasn't so he came back and worked hard to become the best college player that year.



A big year (but not too big) would prime Taysom for similar results.

I'm hoping that his rushing numbers will drop dramatically if his passing game is on, so if he throws for 4000 yards he only runs for 500. I still maintain that he only had the huge rushing numbers last year because he was trying to make something from nothing due to the pass rush getting past our offensive line. Having said that, if he has a huge breakout year this year, he could get first round hype. Don't know if that would send him to the NFL or not though, from the outside looking in it appears his education is really important to him.

QB is the most important position in the NFL. This years group is pretty weak. With his size, speed, and athleticism he'd be no worse than a 3rd round pick. Had he shown well at the combine/pro day he'd be 2nd round.



We saw Hill wasn't ready, but Blake Bortles is a top 10 pick this year. Bortles would go no better than 3rd round in a normal draft.

if his passing is a bigger threat he will have fewer rushing carries, but higher YPC with more huge plays.

Oh, and personally I think Teddy Bridgewater is the best QB in this draft.
