I'm contesting the Bball predictions. Like Russian judges at a sporting event, there was all manner of deception and tactics to fool people into thinking the event had ended.

Consider yourself officially an asterisk.

I had noticed that the 2nd WCC game was not put up there at first and posted a question about that and it was clarified that they were in the process of adding it. Ironically, a couple of years ago, I was leading the football poll, and succumbed to the unwritten rule that you never pick Utah over BYU. I figured my lead was big enough to hold up. It did, for the regular season, but to my surprise I discovered that the Bowl game was added later and although I did get a prediction in, someone edged me by 3 points. So that 5 point decision to pick BYU in a game I fully expected Utah to win, killed me. So, I learned not to do that and also learned that post season counts.

So in my mind, I put an * on that football poll telling myself that I won the regular season contest and an ! Saying I was an idiot for following an unwritten rule to never pick the Utes. That is not an official *, but the idiot part may be official.

So, you may want to put a similar * and ! on this basketball poll - regular season leader and an ! for not going back and checking for every post season game - especially after I posted the "what happened to the prediction poll" thread. And at least one contender deserves an ! for not getting a prediction entered for the first game and others deserve an ! for not having a default prediction.

On one game a month or more ago, my bad eyes caused me to enter some BYU data in the opponent field and the corresponding opponent data in the BYU field. That was the game where I predicted BYU to win a game they were pretty obvious to win, but reversed the scores and shooting % when I made some last minute adjustments. That cost me 13 points. Then, I managed to get myself suspended for a week - unfairly IMHO - but suspended for continuing a topic in thread B from suspended thread A after getting an email warning for doing that with thread C and D a few minutes earlier. Of course, I had committed sin 2 before I got that email warning. IDK what that cost me - but never push too many buttons during the season if you want to win a poll. I did have good default entries. And those actually performed well during that suspension - not sure if a real prediction would have been better. So give me two ! and yourself an * and a !.

Ironically, I debated with myself about following the never pick the opponent sentiment, and almost picked BYU over Oregon. Then I reminded myself about the BYU Football Poll two years ago, and went ahead and picked Oregon. That saved my butt.

So, I will have my son cover this in his acceptance speech - he always wanted to be a stand up comedian.

I am honored to accept - on behalf of Cougarbib - these trophies and the special distinction of winning both the football and basketball polls in the same season after having learned from his idiocy in the football poll for the 2011 season and by relying on the idiocy of others yet overcoming even more idiocy of his own in the basketball poll this season. I am embarrassed to admit that The Bibster is my father and I am still chuckling about having voted yes in the Should Cougarbib Be Banned Poll a year or two ago. Cougarbib wants to thank Kyle Collinsworth for rewarding him for believing in Kyle right fron the start in his default prediction and actual predictions for individual stat leaders. Son of a Bib

* Coug's Rule in the lead prior to NBA Tournament Game

! Coug's Rule misunderstood the rules and got complacent and did not verify assumption that Dancing does not count

! Cougarbib used his bad eyes and a tiny phone screen to enter critical data costing him 13 points

! Cougarbib picked a bad time to annoy the new leadership Council, and earned a 2 game suspension and had to rely on his default prediction for those two games.

! Many posters got off to a terrible start on the basketball pol by not having a default prediction and not making a prediction in the first game or two.

! Numerous other stumbles, bumble sand fumbles made by contestants. ;)
