Romney Stadium to become Olsen Field ?

LOGAN, Utah -- The playing field inside Utah State's Romney Stadium will be renamed Merlin Olsen Field in honor of the former NFL player and USU standout.

No, it will still be Romney Stadium. Only the playing surface will be Olsen Field.



It's like Wyoming, who plays in War Memorial Stadium, but on Jonah Field.

That is confusing, have we named our mud hole aka, field ?

Well, going by USU's precident, our most decorated NFL great was Steve, but something tells me that due to his wife's brother (or whoever the hell it was), Steve's name won't be placed on the field any time soon... :roll:

Seriously though, "Detmer Field" has a nice ring to it.



Or we could just leave the field unnamed until such time as it resembles grass again.

When Lavell was about to retire, one of the options they considered was to keep Cougar Stadium, but have Lavell Edwards Field. LES is more, so I'm glad they renamed the stadium.
