How Charitable Are We?

I caught notice of a thread over at CB entitled "WIU is pissed"

The interesting aspect for me in the reprinting of a comment made by a Western Illinois U fan was, after he compared how small WIU was vs. BYU:



"If y'all are feeling as charitable as you claim to be, you could just let us have this one too... that would be cool with us, we really could use it."



My first reaction was, yeah, we'd sure get more mileage being the "nice guy" as we claim we are and take a dive and give such puny WIU the win. I don't think that would ever be a negative choice, but...this is a competion. Sports teams don't take the field/court and suddenly throw the game only to be the "nice guy". Fans never have these types of opportunities to be "the man" and actually be part of the winning team. We fans have owned this triumph because we thus far have put in the effort.



I've kind of got mixed feelings on this issue. What'ya all think?

They're already getting $10K. Seems like they're just greedy little buggers.

Well honestly he has a point where $100K is not going to have the impact coming to BYU that it would going to WIU, but that could be said of the gazzillions of dollars flowing to the teams formally knows as BCS.



Let's win the thing for the sake of sports and send them the prize. I simply like winning a competion where more so because of luck of how this thing played out where we didn't end up going against teams like Ohio State where we got buried last year in the charity contest of Dave Rose vs Thad Matta.

I have more desire to win the thing than before.



Yes, we have more students/fans. Not our fault. Claiming we should give it to them as proof that we are "more charitable" is dumb. He's holding us to a higher standard and then getting mad at us when we don't meet the higher standard he imposed on us. We don't go around telling everyone we're more charitable than others.
