Stanford holds on to beat U by 1 - helps and hurts, but feels way more good than bad.

Zags are down by 6 to Santana Clara at the half - if this holds up and SCU has played Gonzaga tough all year - opens two doors - easier path for BYU - but possibility that Zags and BYU both end up competing for an at large bid.

Gonzaga losing doesn't do us any favors.



Should we lose the WCC tourney the committee will more than likely go with Gonzaga over BYU if the WCC gets two bids.

It does a favor if we win the WCC Tournament Championship over SMC, whom we have beaten twice, instead of losing to Gonzaga.



I agree that if SMC or USF wins out, that most likely pushes us to NIT - and some wins at home.

A loss would have haunted Gonzaga...in the NIT. They are closer to the bubble than many think. They would have finished with a high 30s RPI, with a bad, bad loss to finish. They were lucky to win. They let a bad team hang around for way too long.

Gonzaga is a lock, because they are Gonzaga. I actually have no problem with 15+ years of legacy gets you one or two years when you're close.



If both Gonzaga and BYU win tonight, I think they are both in the tournament (as long as there aren't any crazy, crazy tournaments this week). Really, I think they are safe unless UNLV or Boise State wins the MWC to take a western bid.



I know they say they don't look at things like west vs east, but it sure seems to.

Agree.



I don't see SMC beating Gonzaga. Just not enough depth for SMC and Gonzaga has the bigs to against Waldow. But, you never know.



Assuming we advance while Gonzaga doesn't and we then go on to lose the championship game, sending SMC to the tournament. Does the WCC get another bid? And if so, do they pick us over Gonzaga? Tough call.
