This team is broken

I have given up on this BYU BBall team. They are broken. I don't have the answers but a Dave Rose coached BYU basketball team should not be losing to the dregs of the WCC.

This team has more talant than any other in the WCC. They are a head case though.

Rose needs to fix the defense by playing Winder and Bartley more and get an assistant in the off-season that knows how to coach defense. Playing Winder and Bartley more would allow Rose not to have to run Haws into the ground. Sharp is not the answer and Kyle can play the 4 much better than Josh. Carlino needs to see more time at point, Kyle more time at the 4, and Winder more time at the 2/3, and mix Bartley in a little more and you might have a shot. Halford could not hold his own last night and I'll be happy when Fischer gets his minutes next year..........I'm sorry but we need Carlino running the point and Halford backing him up.



1 - Carlino/Halford/Kyle/Winder

2 - Haws/Winder/Halford

3 - Kyle/Haws/Bartley/Winder

4 - Austin/Kyle/Not Sharp

5 - Mika/Austin/Luke



Austin is basically out there for his defense/rebounding so why not do the same with Winder/Bartley when moving Kyle to 4. Winder and Bartley at least can drive to the basket and try to score whereas Halford just gets lost in the trees. Rose is going to have swallow some pride here and get Carlino back into the starting line-up and use Halford to reign him in every know and then. Please Rose make some slight adjustments and it might make a world of difference for our defense

The break is in that we keep trying to pound a round peg (Haws D) in a round hole (guarding guards). I think he could handle SFs. Second we really only have two front court players. Austin and Mika. That puts pressure on what Ds you can play, yes? Finally, the team rises too much and falls too much on Haws' offense.

Broken? maybe. But, dead? NOPE. Held together with duct tape and twigs? Seems like that.

This is a good NIT team. Against weaker teams that didnt scout much last year and couldn't this year and BYU has another good run in the NIT--unless by a miracle they make the big dance.
