Kwhit offers Holiday Coaching Position w/Yewts

Twitter report indicating Whitt offered Holiday - he's considering options. Seems like a no brainer given the WR crew he just pulled in: Kurtz, Leslie, Blackmon and Dye.

Or the fact that he'd be looking for a new job after next season if he went to Utah.

utah has always had some decent WRs. And utah historically has been a good stomping, sorry I mean stepping stone.

From my perspective, it's interesting that he consistently considers former/existing BYU staff and players (Chow, Sitake, Kafusi, Roderick, Holiday...). Backhanded way of showing respect.

Don't count on it being respect.

The one perk to this job offer is no coaching needed after November 30 of EVERY year!

This makes me mad. I think he stays with his stepson. I bet it would be a big pay raise.

His stepson was able to come to BYU without sitting out because he has already graduated.



I hope there is a rule that keeps him from switching to the Ute like there would be if he had not already geaduated.

After the rumor started I heard it was denied. What I am now hearing is that it's true and he is seriously considering it. It might happen.

Because they ride our coat tails for recruits and now coaches. I think we need a no compete clause in assistant contracts that says they can't leave to Utah.

Last summer I coached at the BYU FB camp. Coach Holliday was easily the most impressive coach there. Every single day he brought so much energy to the camp. When the group met up at the end of each day Holliday was the guy addressing the kids and his charisma was palpable. He could get a group of 200-300 kids pumped up like no one else. The other coaches were around but no one was like Holliday. He did everything a million miles an hour and was heard all over the field. Every kid on the field loved the guy.



In my opinion losing Holliday will be a HUGE loss. No one else on the staff is really like him.

I wondered if it had something to do with this when I saw it.



In any event, this will resolve quickly. Utah will not give him forever to think about it.



u will outbid Y. They always do. There is risk involved - but upside and downside. If he is a good coach, he will survive and thrive.



I still wonder why UT dumped him. I still have mixed feelings about what he did with "our best receivers ever" last year.



Cannot fault his recruiting results this year.



I was looking forward to some long overdue stability in the offensive coaching staff and seeing what he will do with next season's "best receivers ever."



Final thought.



Lavell Edwards was an Aggie. Norm Chow was a Ute. Coaching is a business.

Just a couple of recent examples. Kyle is generating a more impressive list of coaches that did well at Utah and then moved on and up than Bronco is generating.



Fortunately, there are coaches who view BY as a calling and sacrifice to be here and enjoy those shortened weeks and practices.

For as many "on and up" coaches as Whit has had, there have been "slowly sliding down" ones as well as evidenced by his OC-to-position-coach-crowd.

True Dat. He has had at least his share of duds. But he has had some winners. Perhaps The Urban Dude facilitated a lot of that.
