Just saw this headline in D News. Gonna go read details now.

Mississippi State. QB Coach. Reunited with his former position coach at U.

Let the Doman to U speculation begin - unless they go after Max Hall.

Going to MSU as OC. Waited until after signing day to announce.

The article could have been written more clearly. It referenced BJ as U QB coach and then says he is going to MSU in "same position".

I interpret that to mean QB coach at MSU.

I could be wrong. MSU announcement expected Monday.

When the ship starts sinking, the rats all jump ship.

Sounded to me like he was most likely being hired as QB coach but that the job titles of the entire staff were up in the air. MSU isn't bama but I'd be shocked if a twice-demoted QB coach from a P12 cellar dweller got hired as OC of any SEC team.

Well, that puts the U in a tough spot, now they need to find a QB coach/OC, otherwise they're only going to have three OC's on staff next season.

This. It's not about rats and ships--yet.

Can't imagine utah is too upset about this.

They just lost one of their best recruiters - it has to hurt in that area.

It's a good move for Johnson. Worked with a guy he played for (wasn't he there when Mullen was still coaching at Utah?) and gets him new experience at a new program.

Plus it's closer to home - being from Texas.

Word is Kyle has offered Guy Holliday.

That seems to make ARod expendable.

Utah just can't resist those former/current BYU coaches/players/recruits, can they?

I think that is tongue in cheek but Holliday is hardly a BYU guy. We'll trade you for ARod to keep the balance though. ;)

Last I checked he qualifies as "current" and "coach" at BYU. And he's much more of a BYU guy than a utah guy at this point. Utah probably has a pool of close to a hundred coaches they could have offered, and they go after the one that was 45 minutes down the road???

Come on now. It's ok if you want to copy our program. But let's be honest about it. Imitation has been good for you guys. Well, that is except the last 2 years or so.

The article states that BJ already was demoted to just being a position coach.

Makes Doman the perfect guy. OC demoted to unemployed when BYU decided not to keep him on as a position coach.

;)

As indicated in article and OP, he is being reunited with the coach who coached him at U.

He just brought his stepson to BYU. Just landed some great WR recruits. Hard to see him jump to Utes, but, they do pay more.

Why should Doman go as a position coach right now when he could apply for the head coaching position next year?

This is the kind of depth that truly elite programs enjoy but that non-P12ers like BYU can only dream of.
