BYU vs Pacific

The game last night was a tale of two halves. In the first half Tyler Haws just dominated and as a result some of the other BYU players were just standing watching him. The 21 points in the first 10 minutes was unbelievable as he hit just about everything he threw up.



In the second half there was more balanced scoring and the most encouraging thing was seeing Haws look to feed Mika on several occasions. This is a clear signal to other players that Haws realizes that he will draw a lot of attention and if other players will work to get open he will get them the ball.



Matt Carlino continues to be in a shooting slump and he is not looking for his shot. This is not a good sign because we will need him to score against tougher teams. Some of his passes are things of beauty and he seems to be relishing the role of distributor more than ever before in his career at BYU.

Beggars can't be choosers with MC. We're better off with him as a distributor because he is the best at passing guys into scoring positions. When he's open he'll fire away, but we've seen the opposite approach when he plays shoot first. That's much much worse on average.

I agree and I think that Rose sitting him has tempered his shot selection but there are times when he has open looks and he does not take them. That is not a good sign for any player. IF he is hitting his shots this team performs much better.
