I wonder if he had grade/courses issues. And those courses weren't offered at TCU, so he "transferred" back to BYU to retake those courses? Just a theory.

Either way, kid has potentially wasted most of his eligibility. But he will be able to play for TCU this year. Will he have one year or two?

there were a bunch of posters on this site who said he would never play at BYU when he transferred here. Good call.

Bronco had intimated that he needed to get his academics in order before joining the team. Perhaps the courses he took didn't get him to that level - likely an academic casualty.

count me as one of those. I never thought we would see it. in fact when he left byu the first time i was surprised he ever even played at tcu.

I think you will find that other programs will do what it takes, legal or not, to keep talent on the field.

Right he always seemed like a head case or just soft mentally. I didn't think he would have what it takes to be in college and play football. wish him the best. serious disappointment.

If this was for academic reasons, I'm shocked.

Yes, BYU tends to have higher ethical standards than other schools when it comes to academic eligibility, but there is still so much offered to athletes, particularly the football players.

Things certainly could have changed in the last 15 years, but my wife who was a BYU athlete laughs anytime a football player can't make his grades. There's an entire army of tutors available for the athletes, with preference given to the football players. According to what my wife saw, players basically just had to show up and they'd get all the "help" they needed to finish their homework. If for some reason a football player still struggled, the player would basically get their own private tutor.

Athletes have their own computer lab, study hall, tutors, and just about everything else at their disposal. All T-fab would have had to have done is show up at student lab.

Perhaps that army of tutors is only available to football players that Bronco has actually spoken to...according to these news articles, Bronco never met w/ T-fab yet.

I tend to blame Bronco here, and yet I have no idea what the true story is.

All I know is that I expected TFab to start practicing with the team last season, and Bronco never let him near the football program. Seems like he could have helped the scout team in 2013.

Fatterson did not release him so he could not do it. By the way I hope he had to hold a scholarship open because he was not released.

I think he came back to BYU to retake a course that wasn't offered at TCU. I have no information on my end, just an unbased in fact opinion.

From what I understood (and my info could have been wrong), Tayo was free to practice after the 1st day of school, but could not receive a scholarship for 1 year.

I honestly have no idea if he could have practiced with the team or not, but if he came with no real intention of staying, then it's a good thing we didn't let him practice with the team.
