Bowl Game Next Year

So hopefully we're all fighting for tickets to the Rose Bowl next year, but without the tie-in I'm not sure where BYU will end up.



Here's my wish list:



1a. Fiesta Bowl - only happens if BYU is undefeated.



1b. Buffalo Wild Wings: PAC #7 vs B12 # 5. I'd say there's about a 15% chance one of those leagues doesn't field enough teams. I'll be in Mesa next year for Christmas/New Year's so this is my top choice.



2. Texas Bowl: B1G 9-10 vs B12 #7. This one is the best bet for a decent matchup. I think the B1G will have teams now they've expanded to 14, but they are the most likely to field 2-3 teams in the playoff series bowls. The B12 may not fill their quota either if Texas and Oklahoma make it to the playoff series bowls.



3a. Armed Forces : AAC #5 vs B12 #7 or B1G #11. If an AAC team makes the a CFP bowl BYU could end up with a great B1G or B12 matchup. If they don't we may get a crappy AAC team.



3b. Heart of Dallas: Conf USA vs B12 #7 or B1G #11. Or we may play a crappy Conf USA team.



4. Poinsettia Bowl. MWC #2 vs Navy. Navy has a tough schedule next year.



5. The Bahama Bowl. AAC #6 vs MAC #4. I think BYU plays in the Bahamas next year. I don't see 6 eligible teams from the AAC. I hope I'm wrong but I think this is it.



Other than Pasadena or New Orleans, where would you want to see BYU play in a bowl game next year?

I'd love to see us go back to Vegas.

The rumor is we will go to a new Bowl. Maybe the Christmas bowl in LA. This might be the year to have no tie in and get in an open spot. There might be a few good ones available.

Both Holme and Mendenhall have made comments about this new bowl and the director of the Christmas Bowl recently commented how it would be great to get BYU 1 of the next 6 years. 1. Yes 1.



Bronco made it sound nearly certain that we will have a tie - in to something decent. Holme made it sound less than certain, but very close to being worked out.



I saw a tweet about TH making a formal 2014 final schedule announcement soon on TV. Maybe Bowl news will be part of that.



Los Angeles or Las Vegas sounds good to me. Anything else, and I am likely to enjoy it on TV with family.

Vegas won't happen. MWC #1 vs PAC #6. Both leagues will fill their quota. Except for planning purposes I hope BYU doesn't sign with any bowls. The most likely bowl to have an open spot will be the Bahama bowl but there's a great chance one of the others will come through. The PAC won't field 9 teams again, not with a 9 game league schedule and I think it's likely they get 2 teams in the CFP series so BWW would be great.



BTW why are they having a bowl game in the Bahamas without one scheduled in Tonga or Samoa? Could be a great recruiting tool. Long way to go though.

I may be interested in attending the Bahama Bowl. I've got my speedo and I'm ready to go.

i wish we could get a tie in with holiday bowl and vegas bowl every third year. those two bowls are where we should be. i also like hunger bowl in san fran and poinsettia.



fiesta is great fit if we caught lighting in a bottle next year.

I think BYU ends up in the Fiesta next year. They can beat Texas early in the year, and after that it should be clear sailing through the rest of the schedule. Only other possible losses are at UCF (two time zone travel is always a possibility of loss) and at Boise (they are bringing in some nice players with the coaching change). The Cal game at the end of the year is actually really nice. I know they suck, but it's a Big 5 team, on the road. We won't be out of the minds of the voters/bowl committees minds.



Going undefeated next year will not put BYU in the Playoff, but would get them into a big bowl game.



I think this year is the run up year to 2015, which could be really, really special if Taysom stays. Nebraska and Michigan on the schedule is huge, but they are beatable.
