I Thought BYU Went Through A Lot of OC Instability -but

What is going on up on the Hill?



How many OC changes will U go through trying to fix that offense. Maybe they should try tri-coordinators.



Is the new guy still supposed to groom the guy before Erickson that Erickson was supposed to groom or are they all grooming A Rod. Is the co-coordinator they had with A-Rod still there in some capacity.



Imagine selling that saga to recruits.

2013 OC: Dennis Erickson

2012 OC: Brian Johnson

2011 OC: Norm Chow

2010 OC: Aaron Roderick

2009 OC: David Schramm

2008 OC: Andy Ludwig



That's WAY too much turnover. Thankfully the Utes defensive coordinators (Gary Anderson & Kyle Whittingham) have known how to coach against BYU and limit our offensive production.

What's pathetic is, Dennis Erickson discovered he was demoted to running backs coach when the Salt Lake Tribune contacted him for comment and reaction. Erickson had not been told about his demotion. That is classless. I actually thought more of Kyle Whittingham. Not anymore. You do not treat your people that way.

Wow, I had not heard that. Erickson should quit....he does not need the job, he has his own NC and has coached in the NFL. He does not need to be a RB coach and get treated like that. If he loves football he should coach where he is wanted and needed.

+1. ND, I agree. I manage people. One of the worst things you can do to your folks is to disrespect them - personally and professionally. Building team loyalty and team "buy in" is critical to your team's success. It is beyond me how Whittingham could disrespect Erickson as he did, and expect his committed loyalty. Loyalty is a door that swings both ways.



If I was Dennis E., I would tender my resignation. He can find a job elsewhere that includes professional courtesy with his paycheck.

There are 2 sides to every story. Could have leaked out before it was supposed to. And DE has had issues almost everywhere he has been lately.



Nevertheless - pick an OC and stick with him. Continuity works hand and hand with experience. A lack of continuity nullifies experience.



But, yeah. DE demoted to RB coach is embarrassing for him and for U. Sometimes it is just best to part ways. I guess U did not want to give Doman a shot - telling.

He's a hired gun. Just like Norm was. They either hire has-beens or rookies. Five bad hires in a critical position doesn't look good to anyone, recruits, other coaches, etc. the pattern is set. If this new guy flames, You are right, KW might be in danger. They won't be able to attract other talent bc coaching circle is pretty tight and rumors will pass on.

Shouldn't get into bed with so many girls, Kyle. You are getting quite the reputation.

Although, I suspect DE had a guaranteed contract and so he may as we'll be used.

Of course, Bronco is up to three OC hires.

What's mind-bottling is the fact that four of the demotees are still on staff--BJ, DE, AL, and the new hire.
