KVN Not AP All-American

Not even third team, which he was last year, but not surprising given his quieter senior season:

That's a bit of a surprise to me. Wasn't he last season? Seems silly to me, but like we believed any of these polls were accurate any how. We're just glad that like a blind squirrel, sometimes they find the nut and we rejoice. Still one of the most exciting and entertaining defensive players I've ever enjoyed at BYU.

Definitely didn't earn it this year. Still glad to have had him play!

Had he continued playing the way he did the first half of the season all the way through the second half I would imagine it would have been different. he kind of disappeared. i would imagine uani unga may have made it had kvn not been steeling the spotlight. unga had an amazing year.



luck to have kvn on our team and lucky he came back. i assume the rumors are true that he has been playing injured. had that not happened things may have been different.

I thought it was a gross injustice when Dennis Pitta and Austin Collie got passed up by some bigger names.. but I feel like KVN got what he earned, honorable and 3rd team all american status.. that's what his play deserved.

I totally agree. I wish we knew if he was injured. At least with Hadleys injury, kvn had to play more Bronco-ball of "bend dont break" and couldnt take as many gambles.

I agree with this. KVN DOMINATED Texas and then played worse in every game after that to the point that at the end of the season I wondered if he was on the field. If he was playing injured, I hope he gets healthy and feels disrespected by not being an all American and dominates Washington like he did Texas because we are going to need that type of effort in order to have a shot in that game.

KVN came back to school because he felt he could get better than being a 3rd or 4th round pick. His draft review came back saying that he needed to work on being more physical at the point of attack, set the edge better, and get stronger. While he wasn't making freak plays all over the field, when the NFL looks at his film, they'll see that he improved in every one of the areas that they considered weak. As long as he runs a good 40 time at the combine, he'll have gained back all the money he left on the table by coming back and then some.



Given all of that, yeah, he's probably a 3rd team all american for this year based on statistics.

I have to disagree that he helped himself then. he was pretty bad at the point of attack the last few games which i think will hurt him in the draft. i was hoping it was because he was injured. notre dame and wisconsin seemed to run right at him instead of away from him and i felt like it exposed him a little bit.

He started missing a lot of tackles in the last half of the season. Hope he has a big next week. May have just needed some extra motivation.

that was incredible. i couldn't believe how badly our offense was playing and how kyle, a defensive player, single handily won us that game. unreal.

Yeah, I recently watched that game again, and I had forgotten just how thoroughly bad we were on offense. And then KVN came out on fire in the 2nd half and utterly destroyed SDSU.
