Texas needed to fire Mack Brown in the worst way... enter Taysoms career game...

Funny how that works, we've gotten several big program coaches fired after beating them.

Obviously this has a lot of bearing on next years game in Austin... especially if Saban takes the bait...

no way saban to texas. no way.

and my texas friends all love taysom hill. they have wanted brown gone for some time. taysom setting 2nd all time rushing record against them was what it took.

I think Saban to Texas is a done deal. Why else would Saban say mid-season that Texas is the only school he would consider other than Bama?

And bought a house in Texas.

Though I heard Alabama was trying to do an extension on his contract.

He bought a house in Texas?

I haven't seen anything credible that saban to texas is a done deal. what i do know is texas loves to leak information to make them look better. I still think saban ends up getting more money and staying at Bama. but anything is possible.

You guys seen anything other then twitter rumors?

Go back and look at my comments before the season in regards to Mack's job stability if we lost to BYU. So yes...thank you, Taysom!

As far as Saban, well this has been going on for well over a year now. You'd be amazed at the dynamics that have been at play here.

They're going all in on Saban at the moment, and have been for some time. If it doesn't go through, then your guess is as good as mine.

Yep, he had been on the hot seat for a while. From my UT friends (I was in Austin last week for work) they have wanted Brown gone for a while but losing to BYU gave them ammo. In their opinion a loss like this should never happen and is unforgivable.

They want Saban (clear first choice), Harabaugh, Briles......I don't think Tomlin was ever a real candidate, several at UT would love Sumlin so he would leave little brother for the real Texas school. This is all very interesting.

In a nut shell, Brown is set to announce "retirement" any day now. Once he makes the announcement, we'll know quickly if Jimmy Sexton and Saban have been playing us, or not.

Texas donors are very confident, and aside from a very lucrative contract, they've offered to make right over $20 million lost by Saban due to bad investment deals set up mainly by Bama donors. Rumors are that they already set him up with some very lucrative oil deals that would revert back to them, if he were to decide not to take the HC job at Texas. It's reported that these side deals are so lucrative, that he stands to lose more by not taking the job.

Also, I've heard that Saban doesn't get a long with UA's President, AD (Battle), and Paul Bear Bryant Jr., and that they may not even bother to match a Texas offer, as crazy as that sounds.

Well the fact that Saban has not signed a new deal with bama must be encouraging for texas fans. it means theres a chance.

Yep. It's very interesting how all of this came to be. I could fill up two or three pages with everything that's gone on between ousting Brown and possibly bringing in Saban. Even if Saban rejects us (very realistic possibility) the money we've thrown at him has caught the attention of some big name coaches. We'll see where it leads...

The BYU loss set the wheel in motion. It showed that despite the talent on the sidelines, that Mack hadn't fixed the problem he had created.

Yep. Usually not a good sign when the offeree doesn't even bother to respond or counter. However, Sexton is a pretty sly agent, and he could be playing us like a fiddle.

Well, if he does go to Texas, the first year is the best year to play him. He lost to Lousiana Monroe in his first year at Alabama, and only finished 7-5.

Next year could be interesting for us. The cupboard isn't exactly bare, but we could have some major issues at qb, and so a mediocre season next year could be very likely, regardless of the coach.

What would be most interesting about a Saban move to Texas would be to see how deeply Saban believes in "The System." Does he adapt to the spread-em-out-and-sling-it philosophy of the BigXII, or does he follow his tried-and-true recruiting and game philosophy from the SEC (e.g. to play corner for Saban you have to be between the heights of x'xx" and y'yy" and weigh between d and g lbs---if you don't fit that description, Saban doesn't want you, regardless of talent/performance). If he does bring The System to Austin, the first two or three years could be interesting to see him try to morph towards what he recruits for.

Jeff Chatman is tweeting that Saban has signed a multi-year extension with Alabama. My son will be very, very happy about that.

Yep. Texas got used as leverage. Always felt this was the likely scenario. Oh well. Next...
