Sark to USC

I heard from a source (no guarantees) that Sark is a done deal at USC. Sark is supposedly meeting UW players today.

Sounds like he's not sticking around to coach the bowl game, I wonder how much of his UW staff he takes with him. Here's hoping for a similar outcome to the last time we played a Pac10.2 team with an interim coach.

Wow, just when I think USC is going to do something noble and right and hire the interim, rewarding him for turning their season around.

I think this would be concerning if you were a usc fan because i highly doubt sark was their first second or third choice. at least i hope they would shoot higher than that. maybe they are just stupid. their last hiring would support that.



the question i have is if orgeron is just playing for a raise or if he is trying to get a head coaching job somewhere else with the news of his resignation.

Source was not twitter, ND and SC have a lot of interaction and heard from ND connection in the AD's office that SC was wrapping things up early this morning.

As I said before, CP was never really in the running. After Carroll and Kiffin, USC was not hiring anyone with recruiting sanctions on their CV. Any involvment with CP in the job-search process was a formality that was never going to end in an offer by USC.

Next time forget your meeting and share with us :crazy: I was surprised when I heard. I would have though USC would have been able to get someone who was more of a home run. the usc faithful seem to be very disappointed.

I doubt he was their top choice. I heard they were pushing to get something done for recruiting purposes and they Haden did not want to lose another recruiting cycle (adding the current holes they have due to scholly losses). Personally I think they panicked a bit, I would have targeted Art Briles or Franklin.....heck even Del Rio. From a recruiting standpoint I would not look at Sark as a huge addition......I think a sexier name would have gotten a bump and gotten a few guy to switch to SC, only positive was having some plan. I like Sark, but not a great hire for USC.



Would Peterson leave BSU for UW? I was surprised he took his name out for the SC job, I had heard he was never a real candidate.

That was USC's loss.

Any chance we could get Orgeron come and be our OC? We could make him Asst head coach too. Great recruiter and he could help with our offense and game management issues. Maybe boosters could help with his salary if that was an issue.

Sark is a very good, safe hire with ties to USC (he knows the glory years and recruiting). Was a good QB at BYU - led team to BCS win in Cotton Bowl over KSU. He spent many years as a co-offensive coordinator/assistant coach under Coach Pete Carroll during USCs dominance in the 2000s. He also turned around a UW program (34-29 under his tenure) that was in the dumps - had gone 0-12 under coach Tyrone Willingham (of Stanford and ND fame). His recruiting will vastly improve USC's fortunes vs UCLA and the rest of the P12.

No offense and no offense to Orgeron......he is not a BYU guy. He has a colorful background, although better he still too rough around the edges to survive in Provo.



You are right, BYU needs someone like him that shows the passion he does every day.....he would get these guys running through walls, Bronco needs some of that. He is a great recruiter.

Also for FWIW, USC fans are livid. They wanted Petersen, Sumlin, Franklin, Coach O, Del Rio all before Sark. Kiffin had a better conference record than Sark and Sark adds little to recruiting. Supposedly there are alum emails calling for Haden's head and even accusations saying Haden is conspiring to help ND since he is their former announcer (crazy).



All very bizarre. I am NOT an SC fan, so I love the chaos and don't mind potential recruiting issues.



I just wish it wasn't around Sark, I personally like the guy.

My exact thoughts......why else would he pass on a top job making a ton more money, easy recruiting and tradition.

This is not a safe hire, this is not want the alums wanted and is a very risky hire for all those involved. If Sark does not sure SC into back into a perennial powerhouse all those involved could be fired. Alums wanted a big name, which to be fair, would have given a huge boost to recruiting.



Recruiting has to improve, he will have the ability to sign more players without SC sanctions.



I don't like SC, so won't wish Sark luck....but I do like him. This was a stretch hire for this job.

So they hire Sark, who was on that "dirty" staff with Carroll?

Wonder what Mama thinks of this... LDS head coach but it is a risky hire....
