Bowl game

Washington - very talented loaded with NFL talent, but with quite a few holes in their team also. Built most like Notre Dame and Wisconsin... but not as likely to test our secondary.

May be without Sark by then (though top choices are Vandys coach James Franklin or Boise's Chris Peterson). Being coached by an assistant is always a wild card, Sark would likely be asked to leave UW early to disrupt their recruiting and help USC.



Washington State - Leach will throw with impunity, but they tend to be light on d and can be run on. Built a lot like Houston. Probably the easiest win for us.



Oregon State - lost to Eastern Washington, ran off a bunch of wins, finished as bad as Utah to end it... really good receivers and a really good throwing QB... not sure it's worth playing a 6-6 team that can do that much damage.



Arizona - Also a bipolar team that is better than their record and has a ton of team speed (knocked off Oregon handily)..



USC? Would be the biggest name and most exciting... but they're #5 in the Pac 12 and apparently our bowl gets #6 ... though I realize there's some politics mixed in.

Our opponent will be Washington unless Northern Illinois loses their conference championship game and the Pac-12 gets an at large spot in the BCS. If that happens our opponent will be Arizona.



There is absolutely no way USC falls to the Fight Hunger Bowl. There is no way a 6 win WSU or OSU leapfrogs Arizona.

Apparently there is some fudge room based on travel and negotiation between the bowl and the Pac 12. (politics and $$)



Washington is closer to being without their head coach today as Chris Peterson is not a candidate for the USC job apparently now.



I hope you're right though. I would rather test ourselves against a really good opponent that has earned the right to play us and not a 6-6 team with aspirations to go 7-6.

I would imagine it will be washington which is worrisome. the way we are playing i think they beat us handidly.



the team is regressing. the game plan going into nevada was ridiculous and put me on edge about anae. sometimes he is just to, "its about doing what we do well" and game planning based on the opponent a little too little. we obviously thought against a team like nevada we could go in there and do whatever we want and we couldn't which is not good.



injuries have piled up. hopefully manu's injury is not too serious. i don't expect us to win our bowl game this year. i am still excited to watch the game though but my expectations are low. wisconsin took something out of the team. they haven't been the same since.

I think what the Wisconsin game did was provide us an accurate mirror to take a good look at ourselves, not one of those circus mirrors provided by the Texas game...and I don't think we liked what we saw. Take getting pushed around by Wisconsin, then getting pushed around by Notre Dame, then add a terrible first half against Nevada, and I don't like the prospects against a quality Arizona or Washington team. I'll be watching and supporting, but I fully expect 8-5. I guess Wisconsin and Notre Dame took something out of me too.

With Sarkisian leaving for USC, it'll be interesting to see how Washington plays with an interim head coach.

IMHO it makes UW a much less attractive pick for the Fight-Hunger Bowl---interim head coach after a just-above-middling season? Pass.

I like the UW match-up better than Arizona.....on the field.

It'll be UW. Nobody in Tucson will travel to SF in December.A lot of people from Seattle will.



It will also be a great game. I'm excited to go.

I think that the team really thought they were going to win and still had high hopes for the season which were dashed with that loss. there was a let down.

Is BYU going to get some injured players back in time for the bowl game? IMO, that is a huge question in whether we will be able to win or not. Our offense was really starting to take off and then we lost half of our receivers. Our Defense was performing at a very small step below last years great defense and then we lost half our linebackers and the secondary took another hit or two. Getting a bunch of these players back would be huge.

Meh. Driving distance is about the same. Both have a significant amount of alumni living in the area.



A 8 win Washington is still the sexier pick than a 7 win Arizona despite the fact that Arizona has a more high profile win this season.

What team sells out the New Mexico bowl? New Mexico doesn't even sell out the New Mexico bowl.



Of all the Las Vegas Bowls that BYU attended Arizona brought the largest Pac 12 contingent by far. I went to the holiday bowl in 2009. I saw half the stadium filled with Arizona fans.



Arizona travels as well as any other Pac 12 school.

Looks like Marques Tuiasosopo will be the UW interim coach for the bowl game.

I have had a difficult time finding details in the news articles of exactly which, if any, coaches besides Sark are departing UW.



If the QB coach is the interim head coach - are both coordinators gone? Did they wven have an OC or did Sark also wear that hat.



Tuiasasopo is only 4 years less experience than Sark, and has coached multiple positions. Local Hero too. Was kind of like T Hill as a player.



I hope the UW coaching staff is depleted and UW players are distracted.
