byucougar1We have all heard about why BYU went the Independence route and how the ESPN contract has provided exposure to football fans. While I understood the ESPN factor, this year we also had other major networks (NBC, CBS) pick up games. As a Coug fan currently outside of Utah in WA, I have been able to see all of the games which has been fantastic. I can attest that others are becoming familiar with BYU via the current TV exposure as well. Most of my non-member friends who are avid sports fans are quick to comment on how BYU performed when they play (for better or for worse), but the bottom line is that they are watching because BYU games are accessible. Below is a list of the games we played or will play this year and the network on which the game was broadcast.

Can't help but think that this type of exposure has to be very good when pitching recruits as they will be seen very frequently - especially for those who are from out-of-state and wanting family/friends/scouts to be able to see them. It is interesting that the 2014 recruiting class is primarily filled with out-of-state recruits.
