Texas, to erlee?

The Texas game is a continuation of the Hall of Fame Classic Tournament that included Mt St Mary's and Colorado Mesa. Meanwhile, Witchita State Shockers play Depaul. The results of the two games determines who plays whom in the final round.

We play DePaul or Wichita State Tuesday on ESPN 2 or ESPN U at a time TBD based on whom we play.

"We’ve played some pretty good teams up to this point," said Texas coach Rick Barnes. "We’re going to play a team that's going to play a different style than we've seen up to this point. They get fouled a lot. If there's a team out there taking advantage of the new (defensive) rules, I would say it's BYU."

Kinda strange quotes. The teams they've played didn't seem like good teams (mercer, Stephen f auston, Houston baptist and south Alabama); and does BYU really take advantage of the new foul rules? Doesn't seem like BYU gets any more advantage than the next team. :skeptic:

The new rules are designed to reduce contact interfering with play - hekps finesse teams and neutralizes more physical teams. BYU has not fully taken advantage - we miss too many free throws.



The played some good teams quote seemed a little funny to me, too. But I did not go look to see if any of those teams are any good.

RPI is practically invalid at this stage of season. Big disparity between Tx, their schedule and RPI and BYU having allayed two conference contenders in Stanford and ISU. So, throw RPI out.

Yes, but it doesn't seem that BYU has benefitted any more than any other team so far, in fact the ISU game there were few of the new fouls called against ISU.

UT hasn't really killed any but one of their soft 4 opponents thus far so I have slight hope. They're going to be athletic and crash the boards. But, holy crap these are the kinds of games you just have to win. Come on boys. This is another big game for the program!

That is true, but it is impossible to know how much more pushing and checking would have gone on if ISU did not adjust to the new rules.

Looks like Texas is favored by 7 to 7 1/2 points. Huge opportunity for our boys.
