Fresno paper shows BYU is favored.

At ND? BYU favored by 1? with a bye to get ready for BYU?

I like our chances, but I wouldn't call us the favorite; nor would I bet on BYU even if it was ND +3.

Last I saw, we were one-point dogs, but either way it shows that people see this as a toss-up.

If that spread has shifted from -1 to +1 I wonder what is happening at Notre Dame (injury? ).

Other explanation is that all the action had been on BYU and the line simply shifted towards Notre Dame, but this is not a game I would ever consider putting money on for BYU to win. Right now if BYU is favored by 1, good money is on ND (from a purely evil vegas view)

No new injuries that I am aware of, in fact Kelly is putting a positive spin on injuries.

Second paragraph is correct. ND always has a lot of action in Vegas and subject to swings. I would never bet on an ND game (I don't bet, but if I did) as line tends to be off as sentiment always swings as ND is always overrated/underrated and this impacts the line. Check out ND boards, sentiment is horrid now...you would think we are 0-10. Not many ND fans with a lot of confidence in the team given injuries, play calling defense and overall underperformance. I really see that causing a swing as ND fans not stepping up to put money on ND.

This will be a repeat of the Wisconsin game... 27-17 Irish. They'll just emulate what Wisconsin did on D and they have the same speed and athleticism to match what the Badgers were able to do. I think the Irish defense will get a pick 6 in this one and their offense manages a quiet 20. The main reason I am picking ND in this one... they are 4-1 vs. top 30 teams... BYU is 1-3 AND the Cougar D is not as good as last year's... not even close. I get that the Irish are not as good overall as last year, but in South Bend... in November... and the D with Hadley out... not a good combo. Plus, the Irish can throw the ball which plays right into BYU's weakness on D. I'm not completely ruling out a BYU win because I think there's about a 30-40% chance they can pull it off, but I certainly would not bet that way.

Maybe but don't see it. ND does not run the ball like WI, Kelly does not like to be a run first team. Look for ND to air it out more than WI, whether it makes sense or not. My hope given the weather Kelly runs more often then normal and tries to give the defense a break.

ND's secondary has struggled. ND's D is not WI, BYU will be able to run and pass on ND. If ND can shut down the run BYU will have a tough time. I think you are a but pessimistic on the Cougars given NDs glaring struggles.

Wisc Oline >> ND Oline

Wisc front 7 >> ND front seven......just for starters.

2013 BYU O >> 2012 O

2013 BYU D < 2012 D

2013 ND O << 2012 O

2013 ND D << 2012 D.

ND 3-1 vs top 30 >> than current, injury depleted, ND team.

2013 ND team much more beatable than 2012.

2013 BYU team EVEN?? With 2012 team, maybe slightly better.

All depends which team wants IT more. I like BYUs chances.

Exactly, which is why I think BYU loses. The Irish also have a top 30 pass defense and will be big and quick enough up front to contain BYU's run game. They'll just put a spy on Hill and it will be the Wisconsin game all over again.

Not sure I agree here. Anyone who has watched ND games knows we struggle vs the pass, if an average fan can see this and BYU's defensive staff can see this. We are 25th in pass yards (right in front of NC State and Navy, if that gives insight into how little this means), these stats are padded again run first teams (Navy, AFA, Mighigan State).

Size is NOT an issue, see below. Ability to contain TH is, DL starters have health issues and QBs have had success keeping plays alive and scrambling (NT- has missed several games with knee issues, 2 others have bum ankles, Tuitt is recovering from back surgery).

Wolfman is a troll, arguing with him will never work, you are wasting your time. He has gone by many alias' over the years but the song is always the same, he has been airwolf84 on other boards until he gets banned, on this board, he has been wolfie, airwolf84 wolfman and a few other alias' with the word wolf in it. He has claimed to be an "objective" BYU fan since the crowton days. His negativity was mostly correct during the crowton time but has been mostly wrong under Bronco since Bronco is a good coach. He will predict losses to pretty much any team short of Idaho state and the dregs of the wac and mwc. Earlier this year, he predicted BYU to win 3 games at best.

Ah, fried butter... how are you? I disagree... Bronco is a very average head coach with limited X's and O's strategies... his record is well under .500 against quality opponents since 2005 as well. Also, you are incorrect about my prediction for this season... go back and find the thread where we made our predictions for 2013... you'll see that I forecast a 7-5 campaign actually.

The reason for this is that ND just is not that good this year.

The nearly lost to Navy at home 2 games ago, and Navy absolutely gouged them on the ground with the read option and option. I could not believe how much success they had running it.

Then, ND lost to Pitt last game, and this is a very average Pitt team.

ND had the benefit of playing and beating USC and ASU at the right time. Both teams would punk them now. Also, beat Michigan, but they are poor this year.

ND just lacks any passing threat really this year, so has to rely on that D to win it. Teams that can score points with a decent D will beat the Irish.

BYU has been to South Bend recently, just played a tougher team in Wisconsin to ready them for this week.

BYU by 7, 24-17.

I see Notre Dame being favored by a point now in Vegas.

Well said Frd. I'm with you on this. Ain't going to get much better at BYU. Broncos D is really quite good YoY. His O mostly good except with BD, RN, and JH. LaVel was sub par to top comp as well. He has avoided most train wrecks w players behavior. Fits with the BoT and doing better with fans and PR. Not perfect. Big blemish vs Utah. But he at least hates Kyle, as he should and so he gets consolation points.

I heard their star tackle is hurt as of Thursday afternoon.

We almost beat them last year with a bad offense, I think we beat them by two touchdowns this Saturday.

I'm not that confident about this game. BYU has hardly been road warriors this season.

We lost at UVA, won in-state at USU in the 1st quarter when their heart and soul went out for the season (so I toss this game out of my evaluation), barely won in Houston, and got road-graded at Wisconsin. The farther this team goes from home, the worse they seem to play.

If BYU wins at ND, one-point might be it. I would favor the Irish by 6.

BYU probably will/should win but two TD's is a stretch. Keep in mind ND was missing their QB last year and was coming off triple overtime and heading to OU the next week etc etc, things change every year so hard to make direct correlation. ND has beaten 3 ranked teams so they are not a roll over, ND is not a good team but not horrible. I pick BYU to win, but two TD's is crazy.

Michigan State would be undefeated right now, if not for Notre Dame. The Spartans should end the regular season 11-1, before they play Ohio State.

Oline is the healthiest its been all year

Hill is healthy...and more experienced

Hoffman is healthy

Williams and Hine are healthy

No reason BYU cannot score on ND

BYU defense may not be great, but KVN is still there, Manu is still there. This might be a higher scoring game that we think. With the ND nose tackle out, BYU can run on these guys, which means they can pass on these guys, which means BYU wins.

I've had a change of heart... BYU 28 Irish 24. Cougs finally get more than 23 against the Irish in 8 tries.
