Does Craigo or anyone else have suggestions for places to eat (family friendly, not too expensive) or stuff to do? We'll be spending all Mon and Tue in the area staying at the Great Wolf Lodge (great indoor swim park). I have kids aged 7 and 6 so looking for things for them to do when not swimming. I believe there is a Lego Land nearby?
Shame we aren't living there anymore; I had big plans when it was announced then we moved and the wife had a baby 2 weeks ago.
1. Great Wolf Lodge is nice and there are some cool attractions in the area, to include the KC MLS team, they have what's considered the greatest soccer stadium in North America (owned by Cerner) and they do tours. Even though we live in Clovis, Ca we still own a house about 5 minutes from the Great Wolf... we're keeping it just because we love it's location.
2. In the legends shopping area (that's what the area is called where you're going) there's a gigantic store called Nebraska Furniture Mart, owned by none other than Warren Buffett. It's worth a look see.

4. You should go see The Country Club Plaza.... the Christmas lights there are amazing though they aren't lit til the 28th. Fancy shopping for fancy folks, but very very nice restaurants and shopping. It's a stones throw from downtown KC MO. It was built as a cout out of Seville Spain (Kansas City has the most fountains per square foot of any city in the world other than Seville.. apparently. I've never counted)

5. The lego land is tiny and indoors. Don't bother.
6. If you haven't been to the Liberty Jail, you should go (my old home town). I'll bet the BYU hoops team goes at some point to see it. If you call the Jail, they might let you know if the BYU team has scheduled a time to see it. They also are likely staying at the downtown Marriot which is 2-3 minutes from the Sprint Center.
7. You must get the best barbecue in the world Oklahoma Joes... Anthony Bourdain says it's one of the 13 places to eat before you die. There are 3, but the historic one is in a converted gas station. Get the brisket, get the fries... go hungry

8. You'll love parking in Kansas City... if you get to downtown early enough you can walk a half mile or so and park on the street for free. It's not dangerous... don't eat in downtown KC... almost all of the restaurants are overrated or serve nasty bar food. Some downtowns are a nightmare particularly during concerts and sporting events. KC isn't bad at all.
9. The Sprint Center itself contains the CBE experience. It's awesome, kids can shoot hoops and you can see some amazing memorabilia and hoops history. Usually open all day on game days up to an hour before the game.
That's probably enough... your kids aren't going to want to leave the Great Wolf.
*If you didn't buy your tickets for day 2, it's common knowledge that a lot of fans bail after day 1 if their team doesn't make the championship.. very good tickets can be had very cheap for day 2* Last year I sat on the floor for $80 for Day 2.
