Iowa State is 2-0 and thus not as tired. But they play 2-0 Michigan Sunday in a Big 12 vs Big 10 match-up in Ames, Iowa, and then they need to travel here while we rest up. Iowa State has beaten a couple of warm-up type opponents by 30 points or so each. They are probably better than Stanford. But this game is in Provo. We need Tyler Haws healthy and a team with fresh legs over-all.

Michigan is a top 10 team, so Iowa State will be well-tested and may leave a lot on the court. They certainly will not be looking ahead to BYU when preparing for Michigan.

Yes, I think we now much more after today's game. But if I were game planning against BYU, I would do exactly what Mesa did--slow down the game, eat the whole shot clock, get BYU bored, get back on D, slow down transition, get them ot lf rhythm, modulate defensive sets often to keep them off balance and hope they don't shoot well, bc they will get their points in the paint.

Iowa State is actually favored in todays game vs #8 Michigan. If Tyler can't go I think we are going to be in some trouble

This is a really big game. It's at home and BYU can't afford to drop any home games this year.

Ironically, Michigan seems much more talented.

Game Over.

IDK if this game made the cut for the polls, but if it did, ISU will come to Provo ranked.

Students and fans need to come out in force Wednesday night. A 20,000 plus crowd in the MC will play an important role in this game. Not many teams from one of the big 5 conferences actually ever make it to Provo. Seems like most of these games in recent years have been relegated to ESA. This is a great opportunity for this team to continue to make some early season noise. Here's hoping Haws is healthy and ready to go.

Does MC hold 20K? I thought 17 or 18K.

Either way - there is absolutely no excuse for there to be 1 empty seat Wednesday.

20,900 after the renovation. Down from the original 22,700. The place needs to be rockin' come Wednesday night.

I'm not sure the students will come out. This has been the worst year for student participation in recent memory.

Hopefully word circulates quickly that Iowa State just upset #7 Michigan (I know it is waaaay early in the season) and maybe they come in ranked (we will find out later today if that is the case). Students love this kind of scenario so hopefully a lot of them will jump on the bandwagon. FWIW, I thought the student section for the Mount St. Mary's game on Friday was respectable for an early season meaningless game against a no name opponent.

ISU #21 on the AP not top 25 in the ESPN poll.

Hopefully students will come out. They need to come out.

Few students I have talked to are still miffed they moved the student section (understandably so). Went from great seats to ho-hum.

Also, all those funny pictures, etc. you see the students waving around? Those are provided by BYU. Students aren't actually allowed to bring them in. However, we need all the look and appeal of a crazy student section, so they're printed out by BYU and handed out to the student section before games.

I'm less worried about the students showing up. The student sections have looked pretty packed by comparison to the rest of the arena, which is another reason I don't think they should have moved the student section.

Give everyone under the age of accountability - 8 for anyone not familiar with that LDS term, a free pass and a free ice cream cone if they need to for this game, Zags, SMU, type games this arena needs to be packed and wild on National TV.

ISU is great at home - very hard to beat, but not terribly impressive on the road. I only caught part of the game vs Michigan but ISU looks very beatable to me. They love to chuck up 3's so we need to be solid with our defense and make sure we crash the boards. If Haws plays and is not hampered by injury I think the cougs win. That and as long as ISU doesn't catch fire from beyond the arc, which they're capable of doing.
