They got nothing on PAC 12 refs. Not saying this as an excuse, but there were some horrific calls in that game, and strangely all went WI's favor! Maybe they thought we were part of the PAC 12? The last overrule call on Cody at the end of the game was simply unbelievable.

Yeah, I said earlier that we still don't win this game with fair calls, but it certainly didn't help.

I must have missed your comment. I can't get over the last call. I know I know I need to "get over it" but Cody is held on the end of the game down the field and they call the penalty and then say it is waved off because it was uncatchable. It was uncatchable precisely because because HE WAS FREAKING held!! Sigh. Reward the violator! Maybe I need to go take a walk.

I agree. I was very disappointed with a number of calls/no-calls with these refs. LOTS of holding went uncalled ... but they were pretty consistent with that. The three they waived off did effect the game. Call that last one, and BYU probably would get into the end-zone by the end of the game.

This game was my farthest miss in predictions. Agree with the complaints about holding. Perhaps there is no holding recognized in the Big 10? But their OL out- played us any way. Our guys didn't do so badly, what with traveling way up north and playing in the Prarie wind. But for a few plays, this game could have gone lots of different ways, including a possible win, or a bigger loss for us. I give credit to UW, but also think we win were this in Provo with Big 12 officials. One thing for sure, is that this game represents UW's best win so far, unless their ASU game is counted as a win ;) .

Pretty consistent. We pretty much hate all refs.

And this is another failing of the NCAA. Why they will not bring all the refs into their tent and then "rent" them out is beyond me. The refs are paid by their conf, owe allegiance then to that conf, and work nearly exclusively with the coaches of that conf. Doesn't that alone cause a thinking person to at least consider changing it? I've never heard even a whisper about the NCAA running the refs.

As for this game, the most egregious non calls where the constant holding. I had always been taught that if the lineman gets his hands on the outside you could pretty much guarantee there would be a flag. Not last night! I think I could have run for over 100 yards last night with how many times the ILBs got "blocked" with hands on the outside.

Incorrect. Only hate all bad refs. There was no excuse for the lack of pass interference or defensive holding at the very least calls.

Yes only bad refs. However, the tone seems to be that all refs are bad refs and that they also are prejudiced against Mormons. Have to admit, I feel that way at times.

WAC refs. But now WAC is dead.

MWC refs.

PAC refs.

Big 12 refs.

Big 10 refs.

They have all been called out on here over the years.

Trust me- SEC and ACC refs would nor be received any better.

Refs are often homers. Mormons are unpopular in Christian territory.

Somebody suggested NCAA centralize it to remove conflicts of interest. That might help a bit, but even then, most refs went to a certain college, have a religion that is not LDS friendly, come from their region of the country and thus have some bias to try to ignore.

Waiving off those penalties was frustrating. You rarely see that more than once in the same game.

Hoff catches the last pass where DB grabbed him to prevent big play and TD. Bronco livid when PI not called - came onto field to protest. He rarely does that unless an egregious error. Hoff had his man beat badly and likely scores or gets us near endzone. We score on that drive and game is 27-24. Much closer than final score and puts interesting twist on game plan in final minutes. Even the announcers called PI on that play and stated major game change for BYU in that series. IMO the lack of holding calls by refs on DBs helped to neutralize our WR height advantage and took away part of the game plan. Terrible officiating on the lack of holding calls and definitely game changing for BYU.

Exactly, and that holding was happening all night, especially on Hoff. I thought that was a lot of the reason why BYU ran so much on the final drive.

There were holds all day. It was ridiculous.

I have felt Big 10 refs are always conference homers.

If the NCAA does not bring them under them then they should review all of the games and publish rankings and not allow the worst to do bowl games or have it affect their earnings. There are no consequences to being a homer.

Even the Wisconsin fans sitting next to me couldn't believe there were no flags for offensive holding on some of those plays. And that last interference call that was "uncatchable" (because of the defensive holding all the way down the field) brought a few sighs of relief as well. They knew they were getting a lot of help from the refs.

I didn't watch the game, but saw the Hoff play on the news. Whaat is amazing to me is that I have seen our linemen flagged for holding many times when the holding had no effect on the play at all,.... and this was waved off because it kept him from being in position to catch the ball? :skeptic:
