The NCAA hates mormons

I know this is a bball topic, but it is a deadzone over there and this needs to get some views and publicity in hopes of being overturned quickly.



According to this article, a mormon kid enrolled at Colgate (the college, not the toothpaste) was ruled by the NCAA to lose a year of eligibility for playing 3 games as a fill in for a church league after getting back from his mission...

The NCAA needs to go to an island and retire and quit tweaking with the empire they have created, because they are going to lose it.

I saw this and was astounded.

If it isn't overturned it would be pretty amazing. I understand if he checked the box which triggered the loss of eligibility but it would be a astounding if they didn't over turn it quickly.



They have a hard job and seem to enjoy making it harder on themselves.

I hope this is one of those cases where the rule is applied mechanically, placing the burden on the exceptions to appeal.



Can't be too sure with the NCAA.

You Missed the point. It's excessive disclosure and he needed to be smarter than the form.

It was a Baptist league, they hate Baptists, the kid being Mormon was just an unintended consequence....

It has already gone through the appeals process, and was not overturned.

Says here that Colgate is appealing, and NCAA will likely reverse their decision

I bet the conversation was longer over this kid than the discussion about Johnny Manziel's suspension.

When you're filling out the forms going into college after a mission. "Have you played basketball/football since your return"... ALWAYS check the NO BOX!

The NCAA can't get "normal" kids right. Why would anyone expect the NCAA to get "one of us" right???

NCAA is going to have a hard time being sticklers on rules after turning a blind eye to Manziel.
