With all the depth at DL I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple guys moved to OL. Maybe Rowley and Kanuch are moved to OL??...... I'd like to see Peoples skinny up a bit and play a lot of DE as well as some DT to get our best players on the field. Let Tuiloma and Johnson handle DT and Hinds should be able to compete for a starting OLB opposite Fua immediately. Probably need to put some good weight on both Hinds and Fua in the off-season, especially Fua.

What about Moses Kaumatule?? Isn't he due to come back off a mission as well?? I wonder if he'll play DE or OLB? Wasn't Moses pretty impressive out of high school?

Where is TaikwonDave when we need him? you know, to put muscle, weight and commensurate speed reduction on Fua ad Hinds. :-)

But seriously, is Hinds fast enough for OLB? Seems like he could be the next Ziggy.

I'm pretty sure Hinds was being recruited to play DE at Oklahoma who I believe runs a 4-3 defense so he should be able to play OLB in Bronco's 3-4 scheme

I'm guessing he blueshirts and puts on some weight. I heard he is lifting weights a half hour his last month of his mission with the Mission Pres's permission.

These are great points. I would probably leave Kanuch at tackle because of the investment we have made and his talent. but it would be smart to move Rowley to the oline. he was a top ten guard recruit out of high school. i am surprised we didn't play him at offensive line from the beginning.

i to hope that peoples slims down and plays defensive end.

Johnson will not be third string NT he is playing a ton now and will be the starter. Also Warner at LB will be in the mix.

DB Johnson and trammell with lee and batsmen backing up

Safety bills and Daniel starting with wads worth and leavitt backing up

I think the larger concerns were with LBs and Dline and thus backfield was left off.

But with an improved Dbackfield (notwithstanding the loss of Danny) hopefully they can pick up some slack with the drop off in LBs. and overall a D equal to this year. Not as good as2012 (unless you ask Frdbtr :-) ) but a solid 7.5-8 on a scale of 1-10.

I would like to find 2 JUCO linebackers for depth... You see what can happen with pre season injury. Our linebacker situation is the difference between being a top 10 team next year and a 8-4 type of team.
S
scott715
I don't know if we have the schollies for 2 JUCOs.

Something will come available... Other schools like Bama, Texas, etc. are notorious for overextending themselves with offers and signings because inevitably something comes open.

For example, word on the street is that Austin Holt might not play next year, he's already finished his degree, has a year of eligibility left but we don't have the masters program he wants. He hasn't played much... what would you rather have another year of Austin Holt or linebacker depth...

There are other examples like that.

One possibility that's been thrown out is the return of zac stout... etc. we need the linebacker depth one way or another.

Over on TBS someone indicated we were looking at JC LB Devante Bond who was offered by Miami out of high school

People keep bringing up zack stout. is there any shred of evidence that he could possibly return other than he is still alive. where is he living? has anybody talked to him about coming back? has he even played football in a year?
S
scott715
It's just rumor. My guess is that he is done with football.

How many on your list will be Jr/So next year? I firmly believe that our somewhat softer 2014 schedule will set the team up for a truly special 2015, both in terms of setting us up with a high ranking to start 2015, and also for experience/seasoning of the D.

Stoudt seemed as overhyped as Jake Heaps. I would not assume that either will return until they announce a press conference.

It would also seem that there are a few players on the roster with scholarships that will likely never see meaningful playing time. If need be, some housecleaning could free up 1 or 2 scholarships if needed. Basketball did this.
