Don't know who was commenting in the podcast about Matthews (the linebacker who terrorized Taysom hill all game) that he only showed up for BYU. Well, Ogletree had him pegged as a second team all american so He definately wasn't an unknown before the BYU game:

Like most of the Houston defense, Matthews is lighter than a typical weak-side linebacker, but he plays fast and has a great motor. In 2011 Matthews was a freshman All-American after finishing second in Conference USA in total tackles, and All-Conference USA honorable mention in 2012. Last season he finished 12th in the country in total tackles with 126, with eight games of 10 or more tackles, as well as 17 tackles for loss, nine quarterback hurries and two forced fumbles. This year Matthews is filling out the stat sheet again, with 49 tackles, three for loss, a forced fumble, a recovered fumble, and three pass deflections. While not as physical as Oliphant, Matthews is still a powerful tackler, and is excellent in pass coverage."
