Mormon HS player Ineligible and Team Suspended

Kid in Canada transferred so he could go to the same school as his seminary buddies. He started playing the next season without sitting out a year and now not only is he ruled ineligible to play but his entire team has been suspended from playing in the playoffs.



Thoughts? Should he and school have known that he needed to sit out? Should he and the team be able to play?

They should lighten up. Why so many rules and regulations?

They should know or investigate the transfer rules when someone does transfer. They should know. "I didn't know" rarely works when it is something you are responsible for.

The guy played in only three games; clearly they cannot believe that the transfer was for athletic reasons. There is no indication that they doubted his reasoning to transfer was to associate with people with morals that align with his. So it seems safe to deduce that they believe that aligning oneself with people with similar morals is not an "academic purpose." Hey Canada is becoming more and more like California. As we hear so often in Conference, Welcome to the new "morality" It's actually just the old "immorality" given a different name....
