Boise Game - Good food in Provo?

Hey Guys,

BYU grad and fan and lifelong BSU fan. New poster as well. I browse the board occasionally and must say this is one of the best forums out there. Nice work whoever is behind the scenes here.



This is my favorite game of the year because no matter what I win!



Its been a long time since I have been in Provo, anyone have a can't miss place to eat before the game? (I am not going, but my dad is heading down for the gam)



I will put my prediction in the appropriate thread, but hope its a good game Friday with no injuries on either side. This is a great series, and will surely be a good game.

A great game day food item is J-Dawgs. Best hotdogs known to man, started by a BYU student, and nicely linked to the whole college atmosphere. You can catch one on University Parkway in Orem by the Best Buy.



Another great Utah County original is JCW's. Big burgers, steak fries, onion rings, and famous shakes.

I'm out of state but I like Sizzlers (can't find it here) and Golden Corral.

Bam Bam's BBQ in south Orem, get the brisket. It really depends on what your dad likes, but Communal is great American Bistro (not exactly what you might pair with a football game).

Thanks guys, I think I'll steer him towards the hot dog place.

If he's a food snob, send him to LaJolla Groves at the River Bottoms mall.

And you can never go wrong at Tocanos Brazillian BBQ also at the riverbottoms mall. Amazing meat, all you can eat. A hedonists delight. I can eat there only about once a year. Go for a late lunch and pay the lower lunch price, dinner can get pretty pricey.

If he's coming from out of state, may as well go for broke.

Hard to beat JDawgs, but buy two bc one is simply not enough. Get the JDawg sauce. It's awesome,

A bargain at double the price. (Ok, I'm out of state now so whenever I eat a J-Dawg I'm already in for several hundred bucks just to get there, still).

If you want to get real serious about it, crosshatch the dogs (which isn't a JDawgs original idea--go walk around Chinatown in NYC and take a look at the food carts there--they've been crosshatching dogs for decades, though they put them on skewers in the Asian tradition, I guess) and then brush them generously with this glaze as you cook them:



2 T ketchup

1 T soy sauce

1/2 t veggie oil

1 minced garlic clove

My favorite is either Tucanos (all you can eat Brazilian steakouse) or 5 Star BBQ (only bbq place I've had in Utah that can even come close to some of the stuff I had in Memphis)



And for the record - I'm a J-Dawgs fan. For me its all about the buns and the sauce
