Healthy Craig Bills = BYU 50 Houston 28

Our open field tackling on special teams and in the passing game was awful... If we stop a couple of those big plays early I think that freshman QB would have started getting the yips... instead we gave him confidence and nearly put our bowl eligibility on the line... Not having an experienced, smart, and hard hitting Bills made it possible for Houston to get all that YAC.

Oh yeah. Good call. Strongly agree.

Yeah. We should have had someone - Bills, if healthy - assigned to smack the crap out of #4 Spencer each and every legal opportunity. That guy is something special. Not many people are going to make guys like Fua and Van Noy and Sorensen take bad angles that consistently.

I was at the game and once it was 10-0 the energy was sucked out of Reliant. The fans could feel that the team was in over their heads. But crap, 1 return and one uncalled PI later, and everyone believed that they belonged on the field with us. We gave them way too much confidence early and it lasted all game.

I agree. Bills is underrated. When he is there povey doesn't look nearly as bad. we found out today how bad povey really is. great kid. lots of heart, but severely limited. nice to see hague start to look healthy.

Agreed. This game could've easily started out 17-0 and the rout would've been on. Credit Houston for being very opportunistic and keeping it tight.

He's basically missed 2 games... this time it was headaches. We need him against Boise, they have some tough receivers and a couple solid RBs. Someone needs to give them a few snot bubbles and we know Bills can do that.

I saw #32 walk off the field after the game and thought to myself "how does a kid that small make the team, much less start?" Hague is a short dude.

We will miss Sorenson next year. A healthy Bills, Johnson and Trammel will lessen that loss. And Daniel is a safety really so he'll slide over.



Our depth in the secondary has been tested this year greatly.

Isn't this always the case? You take away a very good player, those around him start to look worse, even those who used to look great. Povey had a lot of heat coming his way, he did ok.



UH's Bates on the other hand, I think about every TD pass BYU threw went straight at that kid. He got beat a LOT. And if Taysom could have put a little more mustard on his last INT, Mi. Matthews would have had another TD, and it would have been because BATES got burned again. Instead, the ball was badly underthrown and bates' poor coverage skills was somehow rewarded with an int.

of course it is. but i think you saw tonight how underrated bills is. nobody ever talks about bills. they just say tht povey has been serviceable, better than we thought. well that just isn't true. povey stinks just as bad as we thought but didn't realize it because bills makes him look better. so i don't think we disagree on anything here. just making point that bills isn't getting enough credit.
