7 Homes games will be nice though there really isn't a marquee team. Virginia, Houston, Utah State, Nevada, Southern Miss, UNLV, Savannah State. Early part of the season looks pretty good with UConn, Texas and Virginia.

Savannah State - Really??!!

This is a money game for them. They are a small college in Savannah GA. Actually still a bit segregated down there. Savannah State is the black college. Armstrong State is the white college. I'm sure things have changed since I moved away in 1988. They do occasionally have a fair basketball team. But I was under the impression their football team was on par with Dixie State's team here in St. George.

Aha! Thanks to Wikipedia I discovered it has a student population of 4,500 and is a university now. Amazing! I really doubt any of our starters will be playing in the second half, though.

7 home games and we're playing Savannah St., we're looking more and more like an SEC team.

I'd like to see us set up an every-other-year recurring game with the AFA. Bronco seems to like them, it's a fantastic but manageable road-trip, and we generally pound them.

Note that there are 13 games there. S Miss is probably dropping the game. It just has not been announced. I suspect they are negotiating the penalty to us.

I like the fact that there are currently 7 home games - homefield advantage can come into play. Pick up a couple of wins on the road and potentially looking at a 10 win season.

If So. Miss drops out, we still need to schedule 2 games. It will be interesting to see the teams that Mr. Holmoe can add to the schedule. I would love to see B12/ACC/P12 team or the likes of MWC teams: AF, Fresno St., SDSU or even SJSU - someone with a worthy offense that our D can shut down.

We will not be playing southern miss.

Yep--Southern Miss will go away because we CAN'T do 13 games in 2014 (since we don't play @ Hawaii).

I'm wondering if the reason we haven't heard about it yet is they are talking about either buying it out or moving it to 2016 where we have 5 road/neutral games and only 1 home game on the schedule. And if Southern Miss buys out the game, does BYU want out of the return game in 2015? It would be best to get that 2015 road game back so you could use it for a Home/Home (2015 away/2016 home) series.

And from looking over the schedule it looks more like the remaining 4 games of the series with Notre Dame will land in 2017-2020 (originally it was listed as 2012, 2013 @ ND and then 2 home games at each site by 2020). If as rumored Notre Dame buys out Arizona State for 2014 to get down to 12 games, and then schedules the rumored Army game @ Yankee Stadium in 2016, they are full until 2017. If it went like this the games would work with the current Notre Dame schedule:

2017 @ BYU (6 home and 6 away for ND)

2018 @ ND (6 home and 6 away/neutral for ND)

2019 @ ND (6 home and 6 away/neutral for ND)

2020 @ BYU (5 home and 5 away/neutral for ND)

This would also fill the ND schedule until 2020 when they would have 1 home and 1 away game to fill.

BYU of course has the flexibility to accomodate that schedule (if these games were included):

2017 - 5 home (Utah, Cal, Boise St, SJSU, ND) 3 away (Fresno St, Hawaii, East Carolina)

2018 - 2 home (Hawaii, East Carolina) 5 away (Arizona, Boise St, Utah, Wisconsin, ND)

2019 - 4 home (USC, Nevada, Boise St, Wisconsin) 3 away (Virginia, Wash St, ND)

2020 - 3 home (Arizona, Virginia, ND) 2 away (Boise St, Stanford)

If that's the case then there's a reason to add Savannah State. Otherwise, to have a 13 game is pointless.

And, personally, I think it should be a rule that every team has to play an equal number of home and away games. This SEC crap where they play 8 home games and 4 away games is just BS.

I like 7 home games but if it's just another Idaho type game it sucks to pay for that as a season ticket holder. It'd be more attractive if it was at least an old MWC team like C State or Wyoming. A game we shouldn't have a problem winning but at least a little interesting.

It's bad enough I had to pay $100 to see Idaho. If I had to pay $200 to see it twice it'd be harder to justify the season tickets to the family boss :)
