Has Any One Else Noticed Yet?

I pulled up the BCS rankings just out of curiosity. BYU is already ranked above those Utes who have lost only in OT to OSU and a close game to #11 UCLA. Already ahead of them.



I guess pollsters are not factoring in that big upset win over Stanford coming up at RES Saturday.



It also had to help that U was outplayed and barely squeaked by USU in SLC, and then USU mauled Weber State as badly as U did, and then U barely beat us in Provo - but we bounced back and trounced MTSU and USU. That win gifted to Texas at Iowa State helped us too.



But if we improve and show some grit and execute well - assignment sound, and nip GT minutes after the Utes have a moral victory by playing Stanford close - the gap will widen considerably and BYU will finish higher than Utah on the national radar once again.

This has happened too many times to be a coincidence, but suddenly a Deseret News article came out referencing this question. It gives much more detail on various polls - BYU leading U in all of them.

So, is the DN snooping out CC for ideas?

Considering we're still more than a week away from the first BCS rankings, no, I haven't looked to see how BYU stacks up against other opponents in the BCS standings.

Considering we're still more than a week away from the first BCS rankings, no, I haven't looked to see how BYU stacks up against other opponents in the BCS standings.

Look on CBS Sports. That is where I saw it. I will have to look to see if it is the real deal or that simulation the guy does to predict. Keeping in mind that BYU had a bye week, last week was week 6 - no? EDIT: It is the Jerry Palm projection. Very reliable. And BYU is already ahead in all of the official polls FURTHER EDIT: that have actually been published.

The Utes got what their fans wished for - silly fans - a chance to once again prove all of their doubters wrong - ala their Bama win -



UCLA - oops backfired at home

Stanford - we will see in RES Saturday

Oregon - Quack Attack later - Are Utes great Duck Hunters



ASU is pretty decent too. Arizona - struggling a bit without Anae. USC - well this could be The Utes' Texas game - or another loss.



The Utes are fortunate to have squeaked by USU and to have caught us early. That is their only hope of bowling.

They're not ahead in all the official polls because the Harris poll hasn't even started yet. And that poll is a full third of the formula. But yes, BYU is ahead in many of the polls that will be factored in.

Which make our loss to them, once again, a complete disappointment. Yet again we are the better team - excpet when it matters most - on that specific day on the field.

I think it is fair to say that we have been the better team overall the past few years. they just seem to have our number if a direct match up.

Same computer models have U finishing 4-8 (losing out until beating Colorado) and BYU finishing 6-6 (losing to Houston, Boise, Wisconsin, and ND).

So we will be 8-4? We will beat Houston and Boise. Maybe 9-3.

They have Texas ahead of all of us at 49. I am not surprised to see Utah still ahead of us for another week or so - being a computer guy I understand that calclations sometimes miss important context - But we did lose a CLOSE game to Utah but whalloped Texas and hammered USU who also lost to U.



Imagine how Virginia feels back at about 86.
