I think BYU wins this one somewhat easily.

Kind of like you thought USU would win somewhat easily? ;-) I noticed you did worse than I did on the CC prediction game. Is your model holding up? There was the Keeton factor, so maybe that explains things. You went from my guiding light to my great disappointment-in the prediction game, that is. ;-). I going to have to draw my inspiration/plagiarizing from Johnny this week.

BTW, do you think that GT is tougher or easier than last year? And tougher or easier to beat this year? Sold be easier at home, but I'm doubting my doubts more than my faith this week. :>)

I think we spank GT. They're on a two game losing streak. We know how to beat these guys. I think they're worse than last year.

Interesting stats for GT/Miami game:



Miami averaged 10.4 yards per play against Tech.



Miami had four big (aka "explosive") TDs covering 33, 40, 41 and 69 yards in 53 plays. The Canes also had eight plays >20 yards.



While BYU doesn't have as many playmakers as Miami does, they do have some stars on offense: TH, JW, CH, JDF and MM to name a few. USU's D is much better than GT and BYU hung 31 on them and would have scored more if they could convert in the red zone. If the OL can provide TH will pass protection and develop a sustained push against the DL while rushing, they will wear down the GT line. Question is which OL will show up for the game.



Regarding BYU's D. While limiting USU to 14 points, they still gave up 380 plus yards of total offense. They need to tighten up on this stat and continue to be oppportunistic in the turnover margin.



I think, Bronco and company, correct mistakes that were evident on Friday night, progress and improve again, and win 38-17.

BYU beats USU with or without Chuckie. BYU's defense may have given up another score or 2 but would not have given up more than 31. That game was BYU's after the 1st play in that game. KVN took all the wind completely out of USU's sails with that pick 6. They got the TD back seconds later after the TH fumble but it didn't matter, BYU had taken all the momentum in that 1 play.

I've come to the conclusion if BYU doesn't get a TD when 30 yards out, we're on our way to a field goal.

I screwed myslelf by picking against byu for the first time every. i usually never do even if i think we will lose. after utah i decided to bite the bullet. that is what i get! :crazy:

I agree 100 percent. byu owns chuckie and the aggies. him going out did not change the end result. chuckie was not moving it well enough to beat us while he was in.

KVN took their breath away (and ours in a different way. :-) ) but we gave them a palpable amount of breath back with the fumble and subsequent TD. No way game was over after KVN to the Ags.



Chuckie Down did far more than KVN + fumble/TD. USU had far more confidence in Chuckie to equalize and bring back the game than fear of KVN by himself. Taking nothing away from KVN--he's THE MAN (except for when he grossly overpursued and BYU got burned for a big gain when he had contain).

Probably, but in the minds of the Ags, CK was taking them to the promised land. They didnt give up on O until after Chuckie Down.

5 plays 11 yards Punt (1 for 3 for 6 yards)

3 plays 15 yards TD (following BYU fumble on the 15) (2 for 2 for 13 yards 1 TD)

9 plays 35 yards Punt (1 for 4 for 7 yards)



They weren't coming back with Chuckie.

That pick 6 did 2 things. It shut the crowd UP! USU's fans were convinced it was their year to dominate BYU, they had us at home and everyone in the media was saying BYU was the 3rd best team in Utah this year. Second, it took all the pressure off of the offense to come out and score first. BYU's defense was NOT going to give up more than 31 points no matter who was throwing the ball for USU. Chuckie is a good player but would not have won that game.

Likewise, BYU doesn't likely score as much bc CK probably moves the ball more, Ags O and D doesn't give up (look how hard they played at USC and Utah) . BYU still wins, but doesn't score 31 and goes up another score or two.

We're you in attendance at the game? Sure seems like the crowd went crazy after the fumble and TD. But the injury happened in the first quarter and I think proximity of events are melding together, mixed in with a little mania from the win.
