Snipping a video

Does anyone know an easy way to cut out and save a piece of a video? What program would you use to do it?

I've done it with Roxio Video Wave, which is a part of the Roxio Creator package (I have Roxio Creator 2012).



There are probably some freeware programs as well.

Adobe released their CS2 video and photo editing programs for free on the internet. They are several versions out of date, but still better than many other options available.
