Anybody Watched Utah State Much?

I only watched part of the utah utah state game. i saw a dominant chuckie keeton whose ability to scramble is incredible and is accurate in his passes. i saw a lackluster run game. i was very very impressed with keeton.



i feel like this game will be by three points either way. i would give the edge to utah state though because it was at home.



i think that whichever offense is able to get touchdowns out of red zone trips will win the game for the team. we were unable to do that against utah at home. i don't suspect we will do it against utah state in logan. i however think at home chuckie gets it done and gets in for at least two touchdowns.



can anybody give me reason to think byu pulls this one out? my hope is that our d plays dominant and that our offense plays a litle bit better. wish hine was healthy because his returning ability could have been huge for us. could have given us some free points or field position.

Our D will handle him again, but I have no idea if our O is good enough to score on them. Is USU's D worth anything? If we can't get any traditional running 1st downs early on we might be looking at TH to throw all night again. That = L. However, I do predict Taysom will have another homerun in this game.

USU: run game down, lost an NFLer two years in a row. D is stout, but down slightly from last year. But not to be underestimated.

If BYU contains Chuckie and avoids turnovers, they can grind this out and wear them down. I would predict a long run by Taysom also. But that's not hard to predict. If JW and Hine are out, look for BYU to give Sr Alisa a few carries but also Algie Brown to ground and pound.

But USU is scary, they will be motivated to get revenge from last years near win.

Home field will also be a stuff test for Cougars composure. Maybe toughest crowd all year. I think Ag fans hate BYU as much as they hate Utah, maybe more. They just usually don't resort to behaviors as degrading as pUkes.

Keeton was none of those things in either game in which he played vs BYU.

Well Taysom didn't get a homerun vs VA or Utah so I'm not sure that's an easy prediction. And I can anecdotally vouch for Aggies' hatred for BYU. It greatly exceeds their hatred for the U.

+1. Aggies are all chummy with the Utes in their disdain for BYU. The Utes hate us but the Aggies have this extreme bitterness towards BYU. While many Aggie fans would sell a kidney to beat us most year, the Utah/USU is just another big game to them.

eh??? Is this a joke. Ag fans despie byu possibly even more than utes.

Hill will be put back to return the kickoff in the start of the second half. He'll return it for a TD leading to a win.

Perhaps Anae picked up a couple of things from this past week ...

LIKE: if TH throws on some early downs and is throwing short passes to the flat or quick slants, he is more accurate than when going long, on the sidelines or on long third downs.



AND: When TH hits a couple early passes, the run opens up more and BYU has some horses who can run.



I suspect that USU (and their fans do hate BYU ... one former player told my Dad that Logan is the hardest place to play and what an emotional/mental toll the fans took on him) will load the box and make TH hit some receivers before they will change. BUT, if he hits a few quick ones, the D will have to adjust and respect. If he stays at 33% completions, or if the team can't hold onto the ball any better than last week the Cougs will come home with a loss.

USU is a very solid team this year. They've had some hiccups, but the MWC will come down to them vs Fresno. Our D needs to bring its A-game, our offensive attack needs to be balanced, and we need our O-line to pass block. This one's gonna be a tough game, especially since they'll be up as it's their rivalry game.

To me there are three key indicators:



-Our rushing offense vs. their rushing defense



-Red zone conversion



-Turn Overs



If we win all three of those battles, we win the game.

This BYU squad is very close to being truly great. I really think that THill will become a legit down field threat, but just don't know how soon. This young OL should continue to get better. BYU is already at the level of power and competence to compete well with USU, just not dominant enough to guarantee a win. Remember, this is not an average Aggie team. An average USU group would get blown out by the team BYU fields right now, even with its current problems. The only issue I have with BYU right now, is its inability to get stoked sufficiently to beat an inferior Puke team.

Halftime score: USU 10 BYU 6. Keeton has never done anything special against a Bronco Mendenhall D. In fact, Bronco has been the one coach Keeton has always struggled against. For whatever reason, he just isn't able to do what he does against other teams when he plays BYU. And this season will be no different. This game will most likely look very similar to last year's contest in Provo, with defense ruling the night and the victor being the team that can win the turnover battle. You do have to give the edge to USU though simply because Keeton should be more proficient and efficient than Hill and the Aggies are at home.

Can't we just put a UT whooping on a couple more teams this season? I'm tired of all this low-scoring high school offense crap. No more goal line fumbles. No more dropped passes. I agree with Boid, we actually are close to being a great team. Unlike last year we have a QB who has an incredibly high ceiling. Madness, ensue!

i used to think that our offense would come around about half way through the season. now i am not confident that it will even happen this season at all. i am not sold on gfgh at all. taysom needs to slow things down a bit to get into a better grove throwing the ball and learning how to read defenses. too much mindless play running at this pace.



our d will get it done. question is will offense get it in the endzone. i have said it more than once, hine matters to this team. his returns hav4 been huge. our offense needs all the help it can get and his ability to return it is a big deal. i doubt he will play but i hope he does.
