CougarbibWhile I was sleeping, I missed out on the idiot thread. I read it assuming it answere a post asking whete all the idiots that fall for Ponzi schemes come from given PROPHETS warnings about unrealistic PROFIT expectations. See what I did there.
And BAM - hit right in the face with unrealistic BYU football expectations.
Without all of the idiot hyperbole, I agree with the OP that almost all of those things are not hoghly probable.
I take exception about Bronco and Anae not being able to bring us back to national noteriety. Seruously. They brought us back to it and from the ashes after fans like that ran Lavell Edwards out of town and ASSumed - see what I did there - assumtions make an Ass out of you and me - that Gary Crowton - and scheme - and his computers - and his coaches and players would take us to the next level after a short suffering with the supposedly bare cupboard LaVell had left. That was the rant back then.
So Crowton went 12-0 with the bare cupboard and then lost the final 2 games after Staley went down.
Then he took us to the next level or two or three - DOWN.
Bronco restored BYU National Brand almost immediately. Before you ask -what about not having an undefeated season? Two things. It took LaVell from 1973 or so until 1984 and a WAC schedule and a 6-5 Bowl opponent to accomplish that feat that he was never able to replicate.
But what about that no Heisman Trophy thing. Well, Detmer got a little lucky. He had sufferred at least one loss iirc, but we played Hawaii after the award was made and they killed us. If that game was played before the award. No Heisman.
But - back to Alabama. The poster admitted that Alabama has far superior talent so BYU needs to beat that with better scheme and playcalling to over come it. I know. Go after Petersen. Wait. He turns down elite programs almost every year.
Lets go get Urban Meyer. Wait. The Utes could not keep him. Flirida paud him $4-5M and could not keep him. OSU has him for the moment. BYU should be able to woo him away. Wait. Is he LDS?
Go get Saban - LDS or not. Who cares. He would live the big time of Provo. Go get him. Now whete is he? LSU? No he bolted for $5M or so and
Alabama.
But BYU pays $1M. That surely will buy a proven coach that can out fox the likes of Saban, Petersen, Meyers, and the fat guy at TCU. Wait. TCU is sitting on top of oil reserves. Cash fliw.
Finally. Take a trip to Boise. Seriously. Great town. And ding ding ding without honir code restrictions and cultural isolation, BSU has no difficulty recruiting fast, athletic African Americans like the ones that blanketed our receivers, caught a pass and made our line backers and dbs look silly, and rushed for about 60 yards down the sideline Saturday.
