I voted no. I expect BYU to win. I worry that Bronco and Robert will try to prove status quo works rather than quickly trying other things - like AO. And it will work better. MTSU is worthy of respect, but Utah has a better defense. BYU will look better. I worry about the running attack without J Dub. Time to see more Hine and Brown. But, I worry that we will stick too much with Alisa.



IDK if any of AO, Hine, or Algernon Brown are better. But this is the game to take a little risk and take a look.

I voted yes. I suspect the loss hurt the players more than us ... and i've been reading some real hostility today on here. So, if I'm right ... big win this week, a big can of whoop*** will be opened up

A little over 48 hours until game time and nobody is making predictions yet?



BYU will be 2-2 by late Friday night. I can feel it coming.

A win? Yes. I'm more looking forward to the second half where we should see some backups for a change.

41-13 Cougs... they'll win by more than 21. They should get at least 500 yards of offense (300 rushing, 200 passing - MTSU has had several D lineman suspended or injured and are going to be vulnerable to the run and their corners are small which should allow Hoffman, Apo and Matthews to catch some balls, providing Taysom can get them there). The danger is Olsen playing 1-2 quarters and being more efficient in moving the offense than Hill and connecting consistently with receivers... if that happens, you're gonna have a major QB controversy going into the Utah State game.

BYU 47, MTSU 17. 550+ yards of offense (325 rushing, 225 passing). Taysom will complete at least 50% of his passes. Tight ends will actually contribute 2 or 3 receptions. Hine and Falslev will shine (again) in the return game...this time, without the penalties.



Coach Poppinga said that MTSU has probably the fastest running back that the Cougs will face all season. (Whatley?) Their other guy, Parker(?), is bigger and more physical. MTSU will run for 100+ yards, but the bend-don't break defense will look fine.



The sky will stop falling and the focus next week will actually be on Utah St. and the trip to Logan.



We will all appreciate that the season doesn't end after the 3rd game every year.

USU. Yes. That is the game where BYU historically addresses its biggest controversies.



Hill fired mid season when USU beat us in Logan

After replacing broke back Nelson in the 2nd half vs U and resting him for the UH Cake Walk, TH started to avoid risk of another USU loss.

A loss to USU or a 2nd half deficit of significance will likely bring changes.



Bronco tolerates U losses much better than USU losses.

The big question is should Holmoe tolerate 4 straight losses to Utah along with continuing QB problems? And should BYU allow Holmoe to allow Bronco and Anae to run things into the ground offensively?

Isn't this just RN redux? We're good enough to run on bad teams who can't force us to throw so we don't. Subsequently, we don't get any better in that department. Then we play a legit D that makes us air it out and, oh crap, sorry we're BYU. We don't do that anymore!

Likely, yes. MTSU is 3-1, but none of the teams they played are great. I'm thinking 38-17 because our running attack will wear them down, but we'll barely get over 200 yards passing. Our D will play well (I think they allow < 350 yards). BYU gets > 450 total yards, > 125 on punt & kick returns. MTSU has < 450 all-purpose yards.

I'm going unconventional here. Not 1 score or game I have predicted has come true.



Byu passes for season high in yards. Taysom gets over 50% completion %. Run game runs for under their season average. Does not cover. Byu by 20

I haven't predicted any game right either, so here's my unconventional one.

BYU comes out slow. They are tanked from the the Utah game and loss and think they can just show up vs MTSU. Low scoring first half. And they get woken up in the second half but DON'T cover the spread.
